Then I'll get busy..... well busier, lets not get crazy here......

This is coming along nicely, couple of things,my piss up is confirmed at Furlong Motor Inn,Waihi Rd Hawera,on main road opposite the racecourse, starting 7.30-8.00pm on the 25th Feb.

Also it looks like I will have to miss this eventmy brilliant brother has decided to buy a van from Levin, and his idea is drive it back to Gore when he fininshes a shut down in the naki 28th Feb,and wants myself and dad to travel the South Island and fly back to New Plymouth after doing West Coast,Haast,Milford areas, this is a dilemma but hope you all agree time with family is paramount to me,and I feel as much as I'd give my left testicle to be at Takapuna,at this moment it looks sadly not happening.Rest assured if things change I'll be there with you.

Still looking to be at Taupo though.

Dunno - largish really. Big enough to roll up messages etc to stick inside it so it would need a removable end cap. 50mm?? I was hoping there would be some kind of std plumbing / gas / water type application that had threaded caps etc.

Fall back is still gluing up some PVC pipe as there are shit loads of fittings etc for that.

I have a couple of ideas that will determine length.

One is getting a couple of maps and laminating them, rolling them up and sticking them inside. The baton carrier marks with pen (provided) the route and adds his/her name, dates / times plus a message. Alternately that could be glued to the actual baton?

Also - people accompaning the baton could write something and stick it inside OR write on the outside like you would with a plaster cast? PVC pipe would be ideal for that.

I will get hold of Abbo our resident plumber at Tomcc Wanganui and see what he has,

and I will get Melissa to ask their mechanical guys if they can frabicate something,

Maybe looking at something like a scroll too fit inside the battern

    will let you know

Not sure and this year, dont actually care. This event (well the Relay for life that this is supporting) is all about raising some money for the Cancer Society and supporting a mate on his journey with this life sentence disease called cancer.

Tony, this is all about you mate. You have to do what you need to do for yourself and your family. We support you 100% in whatever you need to do. We are simply along side you doing what we can to send you some love and support. We cant BE there, but we sure as shit can be there, if that makes sense at all? I personally will be delighted to see you at Taupo, if you can get there.

That makes perfect sense,I want to be there with you guys just to say one small word "Thanks" and if it happens great. But having a talk to mates, family and wanting to do everything 'now' makes it tough,I just don't know how the body will feel, and also the option of palliative chemo to be utilised or not comes into the equation,if I undertook chemo I have to work round that, but that is a slim probability to be honest.

I still feel a hell of guilt if I can't be there, such is the outpouring of genuine caring, wanting to help others with cancer, and my own thoughts that so many people have organised this event, and letting you all down is playing hard with me.It seems like it's all me,me,me and is both a great feeling and also puts the disease cancer into perspective for many.

Just listening to "The Rock" Lynard Skinards FREE BIRD playing, kind of ironic song and does sum up my feelings with the opening words. If I left here tomorrow would you miss me,man that hits hard, but also means I can be free from this disease.

    Another song lyric..INXS
''if I told you, that we could fly...
    cos we all have wings..
but some of us dont know why''..

Those words mean...anything is possible, you just to believe that, to make it happen.
Dont Even get me started on Doris Day...

    Tony's song

On the subject of songs I will post these lyrics up, written for you Tony and I will record it for you, sounds better than it looks haha.

    Ride into the sunset,
    These wheels move your soul,
    Ready to do battle,
Like a soldier in a war,

    I remember,
    When there were blue skies,
    Before the dawn,

I would like to tell you,
    That you are never alone.

    Memories you left behind,
    Legacys that will carry on,
It's been said you can capture 1 million words in a picture,
    Can you leave some behind,

    I remember,
    When there were blue skies,
    Before the dawn,

I would like to tell you,
    That you are never alone.

    Can you look back,
and tell me that you had fun?
Can you tell me you made mistakes,
you learnt and laughed, and cried and loved.

    and learnt the meaning of
    life.

    Because you are a fighter,
    You won't give up,
I know it looks hard right now,
    but what do doctors know?

    So stand up,
    Shout it to the world,
    Tell us your stories,
    About your little girl.

    The roads youv'e ridden,
    The times youv'e binned,
    The beautiful moments,
Where your screaming through the woods,

All I will say to you,
Is that we all care for you,
No matter what you go through,
We will be there for you,

    Don't worry about the future,
    It's still so far away,
Just live life to the fullest,
    Forget about the world,

Just ride until your tyres run,
    straight into the rim,
    Twist that thottle back,
    take one more last grin.

    So hold,
    your head up high,
The clouds may be rolling in,
But there is sunlight behind that darkness,
    Waiting to be let in.
Rest in peace Tony - you will be missed.

If the Westpac ride is on the same day, it will be done and dusted by the time we arrive in Auckland.
