A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

    Bowls can wait !

Groaning at a lot of the responses here, but not surprised at the reaction. Defensive driving/riding is just a foreign concept to most kiwis.

Sounds like the guys overtaking you were ignorant fuckwits. If you come upon a bike that has already started leapfrogging a line of traffic, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out the likelihood of them continuing to do so. Back off, wait your turn.

Yeah yeah signal your intention, do your headchecks etc, but going for the overtake on someone who so clearly is already going through the motions of making their way past the traffic is just fucking stupid and arrogant.

Defensive driving/riding is not putting yourself in a position of danger in the first place.
