most often, take the tank off, and have a look on top of the engine. There should be the airbox, which is often a big black plastic thing. It should split open or unscrew (don't force it off too much!) and the filter will be in there. It'll only need changing if it's black and crap. Normally it's a colour, like orange/blue/white/green/red etc, and the air filter will often go blackish around the entry point into the box. If it's black, replace. If it's not too bad, then don't worry, but bear in mind and check next fortnight or so.Originally Posted by pyrocam
Saying all that, that's for your usual 4 stroke 4 cylinder. Your bike might be a little different, but principle should still be about the same. Just see where the air goes into the bike/engine and go from there
Yeah they can be in different places heheh.Originally Posted by bugjuice

If it's not too bad, you can also give it a careful blow out with an airhose from the inside to dislodge the dust/dirt on it.Originally Posted by bugjuice
Unless you're riding on gravel roads a lot, the airfilter should only need checking once a year, and may need replacing as infrequently as once ever couple of years.
... and that's what I think.
Or summat.
Or maybe not...
Dunno really....![]()
nope, something like that would be perfect. Most of the people who attended last thursday are likely to be on the ride on friday, so it'd be a good time. Still unsure if I can attend or not, but I'll chip in 5 bucks or so for the fund.. Just remember how generous he's been, and yep, he is going to get business from it, but still goes to show he's a top bloke for helping out. He's not expecting the business even tho it still happensOriginally Posted by justsomeguy

If it helps a few people out, and stops them having an accident because they've fixed something on their bike that wasn't safe, then it's all good!"
He's a top bloke all right. Probably the best thing we can do to help him is give him our business - it's not going to cost us any more than some other place, we know he's honest, helpful, will give us a good deal, won't rip us off, and his mechanic (Trevor) is skilled and thorough.
There's a good reason he's not rich - his bottom line isn't "to make lotsa money", unlike many other businesses around D'Auckland.

Any thoughts on another date for a spanner evening? I'd love to come to something like this. I've got a few fold-up seats in storage I can bring. Stephen
