    Raumati here we come!

    Hi all,
Posted on and off over the last few months whilst going through the whole emmigration process, and finally...
...we've got our residency visas and we coming over!!

Flying out on 22nd August, and we're renting a house in Raumati. Got a job in Wellington working for a company called Equinox on The Terrace).

Anyone local - Make yourselves known!!

Just sold my Marauder 1600 and the missus' Fazer 600. We'll be looking out for bikes as soon as we arrive. Something for commuting from Raumati, and something smaller for us both to pass our tests on so that we can keep riding big bikes when our UK driving license runs out after a year...

You might as well get a Honda 50 with all the traffic on that road during the rush hour

    Excellent news!

PaulInNZ and Jimbo600 are up that way, so you'll have a couple of excllent naighbours at least.

Don't worry about the smaller bikes. There are courses that we can hook you up with to avoid all that.

Kia Ora Bro! (BTW Kia Ora isn't orange juice here )

    Yup...

We live in Raumati South. It's a small place and these days runs into Paraparaumu. We moved here from Christchurch and found it a great place to live. The morning commute is a bugger but... The weekends and summer evenings are worth it.

Good beaches, nice cafes and a laid back life.. excellent.

PM me if you want any local info, details or other assistance.

    Paul N

ps - You might want to consider commuting via train into town if you are working on the Terrace...

Hi, and welcome to NZ when you get here. We are only about an hour + away, and every now and then do a ride around the block. Hope to catch up one day.

Hi there lewis_walker. There's quite a few of us KBers who work in close proximity to where you'll be.

Perhaps we could organise a "Welcome to NZ/Wellington/Raumati" evening for you at the Dog and Bone when you get here? (D&B is very close to where you'll be working.)

And/or a get-together at the Waterfront Bar/Cafe on the beach at Raumati (close to where you will be living)

We're north of Levin, about 50kms north of Raumati - nice little afternoon ride up to our place for a cuppa! Or a barbecue in the summer...

Welcome, you'll love it here - especially when summer arrives!
Yes, I am pedantic about spelling and grammar so get used to it!

Hi Jim - You've got me thinking now. I passed my test here in the UK last December, and have been riding big bikes since. I thought that I could ride big bikes on my UK license for a year, and that as long as I passed a NZ practical test in the time, I could go on riding big bikes without having to do the whole 250cc thing. Is that right, or have I got it wrong?
