Yeah I read the post just before. As for my sig, just my thoughts

To justsomeguy, if you feel so bad for the hens having to feel "pain" why do you eat meat?? Must be some pain when the cows/chickens/pigs etc are killed. Another point, how do you know they feel pain?? Have you talked to them?

Nothing wrong with killing animals for food, lions do it, cave men did it, those little cute domestic kittens do it... I love my meat - hey anyone near Auckland know where I can get some rabbit meat?? I've heard the stuff tastes real good. So far I've only eaten deer and ostrich and eel at a japanese restaurant - really nicely done too... almost cooked chicken teriyaki style...but not with as much sauce

What I'm against is the living conditions and the prolonged inhuman treatment of the birds.

I don't want to get into an argument over this..... but I feel from looking at the flies and the clutter and the fact that the birds live their whole life in a small enclosure not even big enough for them to spread their wings, constantly pecking each other and suffering the consequent wounds from the pecking/fighting that they are in some discomfort.

However someone may argue that since these birds are bred in captivity and have not ever known any other living conditions they may have adapted to their life......

    So either way I dunno......

Why do I eat meat?? - Uh - do you know how good that stuff tastes??

    Good on ya WINJA.
We had a pet chicken a couple of years ago, my sister brought it home, she found it wondering around her work - no idea where it came from.
It didn't lay eggs though, maybe it was too old.

Just had a nasty thought. Make sure there are no roosters about, else youmight just get a surprise when you crack the egg.

I only paid $3 each for the 4 chooks I got from the place in Pauatahanui (Wellington). They free range round our section during the day and have a purpose built enclosure for at night. We get usually 3 eggs per day (one of the chooks is menopausal). Riffer and his son came round one day and (son) said they were the first chooks that he'd ever seen which didn't come out of the freezer.
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.
