How to find where someone is buried?

I recently found out a friend who I went to school with passed away back in 2004. How do I go about finding out where she was buried so I can pay my respects?

Most councils have records/websites where you can search such information. Do you have any idea where they passed away to?

Yeah was in Auckland, at Auckland Hospital I believe.

**EDIT** Thanks Indy. I eventually found online at one cemetery and crematoriums' website that she was cremated and her ashes returned to her family, so it looks like there is no memorial or burial site
