It's up to the driver at the start of his shift to check the car over and should notice if the warrant or rego is about to run out. We as truck drivers have to check everything including road users or we get a fine as well as the company.

My calculations lead me to believe the Helen could be in line for a $33400 windfall.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Not being a pig myself (or being in the police force) - I'd prefer to to see the Police sufficiently equipped to do a good job, with good gear.

If some prat plows into me and they're at fault, I don't want the idiot to be able to give the cop a hard time for not being legal etc. I'd like to see them saying yes sir no sir three bags full sir.

Give 'em more money - lets take it from the DPB budget... from those nice ladies unable/unwilling to name the daddy....

edit Please note I believe the DPB is only one of the budgets that ought to be targetted... and note my clarifications in the next post I made below in response to Crashe's.

Think about this one a tad better MDU.
Some of these nice ladies may have been raped etc and so therefore cant name the 'daddy'.

Some of these 'Daddies' give the nice ladies the wrong name.

Sure there maybe a few who refuse to name the 'daddy', and because of that they actually get less in the hand than those who name the 'daddy'.

So the nice ladies are penerlised (sp) right at the start.

and now back to the topic in hand.

They must not be reading their mail. The system sends you reminders in the mail that your rego or WOF are about the expire.
90% of the time spent writing this post was spent thinking of something witty to say. It may have been wasted.

Thats a good point... maybe they're just keeping costs down and thought they wouldn't get caught

Maybe one of the cops on here could clarify this... if they refused to get into a non road legal police car (or bike) what would happen?
Absolutely nothing. No one can be required to perform an illegal act as part of their employment.

Agreed.. and when the little critter (Daddy) get's tracked down part of the punishment can be the sale of assets to support his child.

Yup - get the (better equipped) Police onto them. They get found, they have to pay we all win

As it should be - I understand that's a choice they make and if so - it's fine with me - ok

I guess this is the last group you're referring to - and if so, you're right - but it's at their choice.

    okie dokes.

The problem I can see is where the daddy is named and skips off to another country, or the rapist is never found - there will be exceptional circumstances (as with anything) and I don't expect women or children to be penalised in their very time of need. That's lunacy. But that would be easily "tested' through her participation in trying to name and/or find the guy in question.

anyway - as you say - back to the topic at hand

That's the second time you've said I'm right. If you're not careful you'll be agreeing with other things I say. Just like the old salesmans trick.

Must say tho, very slack of the cops. Of all the people to set an example and standards, and they can't achieve it themselves..?? tut tut..
Yeah but IF the cops aren't rego'd or Wof (or whatever) they should never have been on the road, therefore they were never entitled to ask you to pull over therefore you dont GET that ticket...

I understand that's the way it works (which is BS in my mind anyway - you're both in the wrong... BOTH of you get pinged..)

    Anyhoo - rant over

What about my mate that got a Ticket coming home . If the car had no Warrant he shouldn't have to pay it right !!! as the car should not have been on the road so would not have been there to write out the ticket .
Would this be right ?? He is asking the Police to prove that the car was road legal . hope he gets off
