DIY garden sheds

The wife arrived home with a DIY knock down garden shed. So yesterday I commenced to put it together. I've assembled two previously without much bother.

What a pain in the arse.

This obviously was designed by someone who went to university.

No explanation of which side is inside, which way is up. Whether to lay it out on the garage floor with the inside facing up etc.

Got so fed up this morning, I jumped on the bike and went for a run. Feel much better now,


The worst part is it's not even a Chinese quality shed, It is designed and cut out in CHCH.

I love working with wood and could have built something far more substantial and rewarding, myself.

Its at that point I would reconstruct it with the supplied materials using nothing more than PVA glue, reused screws and the occasional length of duct tape.

Her sister used to be the ultimate inspiration, but even she's gone to the pack. Tempted to ask the woman across the street to come over and help me 'erect' this bloody thing.

Well living in wellington the car parking area on the property is some distance down hill from the cars and ute and I've always parked my bikes under a cover. Having just bought a brand new GSX1250FA I was dammed if she was going to face that.

I set about building a 'garage'for her and all up including laying the pad and closing it in cost me $275, used all brand new posts, 150mm x 50mm for the joist/ bearer things and closed it in with PVC roofing stuff. The best this I got fly buys from Mitre10 the worst was I had to dig a level pad out (of rock)....

Sounds like my plan, going to concrete in 4 post, lay a relatively shallow concrete pad, use treated plywood as sides a few hinges and a latch and for the roof maybe corogated iron or something of the likes. Could just nail a tarp to cover the top have 2 posts longer than the other to slant it, then pull the tarp tight and nail it in place. Yes I'm in a student flat so it will be hori haha.
