Need some riding gear

Hey folks,

The bike is finally up and running, and I'm getting to grips with it pretty well. Before I start actually trying to hit the road, I'm just wondering if you guys could recommend brands of riding gear to hunt for incase I [I]actually[I] hit the road. I'm from the UK and my Stepdad (though a pretty keen biker back in the day) wouldn't know to start with brands over here.

Any other thoughts with regard to riding gear would be great too, first hand, second hand, trademe, etc.
