The latest update via Patrick from his dad Peter:

update from my dad yesterday "congratulations to dennis charlett for his second race win, event overall win and moving into the chapionship lead with cam's #26. sortry to hear of no pole position or first race win. but #26 means cam jones, whose favourite saying is "what's the rush". cam is ok today, but planned procedures are delayed by slight infection, now looking better. we have news of great support and caring thought from the racing community at teretonga this weekend. thanks so much to you all."

The most recent update from Family:

It's been a busy time for Cam these last few days. A chest infection and slight gastric problems have delayed things a bit and caused some concern as well. But today it has become OK. Well enough to enable fitting his breathing tube which paves the way for better control of the chest problem and also is much better as he is reducing sedation, "waking up". The operation went well, and later tonight we spent about 20 minutes with him, he is definitely responding to our voices. It's a great feeling to see his eyes again. Maybe tomorrow we will see another step forward, maybe not. But we hope we are now back on track to schedule the operation to stabilise his spine in the coming week. We've had quite a few visitors this week, both at home and at the hospital. Our routine is to get home together for dinner, back to hospital and back for a normal nights sleep. So far so good! The visitors support is overwhelming, it keeps us going, not just spirit but in food! Being able to come home and just eat wonderful food is really great. Thanks so much for the help. We can't name you all, it's too many

Foxee, thanks to you for keeping us updated on here, and Patrick on Facebook. All of the wider NZ road racing community, from the guys who have been doing it for years (Stroudy) though to people like me who have been out of it for a while really are wishing the best for Cam. Good hard mate, you will bounce back!

Anyone visiting Any of the Jones family in the near future needs to think carefully as to whether they have got, or have recently had any sort of illnesses.
Cam is no doubt in a very weak condition and often when people are like this their immune system is pretty well shot so they can't afford even minor illnesses to get anywhere near them.
At this stage pretty well the only visitors are close family and it would be a shame for Peter, Felicity or any one of Cams siblings to either catch something and be unable to even visit and sit with Cam, or worse unknowingly catch something and pass it onto him and cause him harm
    Thanks folks.

    Latest update from Cam's Mum:

Life sucks sometimes. Cam takes 1 step forward and 2 back but report from Pete this morning is 1 step forward so we will cling to that at the moment. Chest infection is the major problem as treatment for spine has to go on hold until chest is under control. He is back under sedation and they put him back on the paralysing drug yesterday. Physio's working on his chest about 3/4 times a day and spend about an hour. We at the hospital most of the day in shifts but have tea at home and then go in to say goodnight. Thanks for your on going support and prayers.

Like most of us in the Racing scene both on the South Island as well as the North Island our thoughts are with Cams Family and friends.
May Cam pull through this horrific time he is going through and that it wont be long before he is out of hospital and back home with his Family.
The updates on Cams progress have been wonderful and I wish him all the very best for his recovery.
    Thoughts are with you all.

    Latest on Cam:

No change for Cam yesterday. Had meeting with Doctor on Friday. Not really what we wanted to hear, but we had expected it not to be good news. Cam is showing very low signs of response and they are hoping that when they remove sedation mid week that he will want to bring himself out of his unconsious state, however at present that does not seem likely. We all know Cameron for the determined young man that he is, and hope that his fighting spirit is just waiting in there to be released and prove his doctors wrong. They would love to see him do that. The chest infection is taking its time, so that is why he is still sedated as they can control his breathing easier. We value all the support we are getting from all over the world and tell Cam about your messages and visits. Its 2 weeks to the minute since the accident. The longest 2 weeks of our lives. Keep those prayers going

heads up on that one I reckon. Earlier on the family mentioned in one of their updates that he responded to their voices etc despite being in a coma (induced) Not sure whether they can take a laptop into ICU nevertheless I'm more than happy to print all the messages of support off and send them to Peter and Felicity so they can read them to Cam while Visiting.
No matter how small you think your message I'm sure Cam will be able to hear them read to him and keep the lad fighting what's up against him.

Should take in some of Mr Collingwoods great video/audio footage (complete with your stellar commentary Spyda). Cam might enjoy listening to some bike action in the background while he's listening to his family chatting away. Probably wake up and tell everyone to be quiet so he can hear it, lol.

Seriously, Cam is never far from our thoughts and we're hoping to see you all smiling soon.
