How tight fitting are your leathers?

Never been fitted up before, bought my dainese jacket of a friend whos a bit bigger but not by much, fits well. now he wants to flick the dianese ducati branded leather pants that zip to my jacket but they do seem a little on the big side.

i can see this being an issue, but is it much of an issue? i gather scoring a great deal on larger leather pants beats having no leather pants at all yeh?

It the fit is too loose, any fitted armour might not stay where it should in the event of an off. Needs to be securely protecting the bits it is designed to protect. So not too big, eh.

A pair of socks rolled up and put in a strategic place can work wonders apparently

But on a serious note.....you could get them altered so they do fit - dependant on where they are too big of course.

oh... I am soooo not making comments about inadequacies in a gordie...

Rocket. Put the pants on, see how they fit. The key thing is that it's comfortable and try moving and shifting armour around. If it moves and leaves you less protected, then that's what could happen if you go splat.

As nzspokes says, you can always have them modified, so that's another option.

They need to be tight enough to not come off in a slide. Are they still small enough to stay on if they were pulled hard?

The looser the garment the more likely you are to start rolling during a slide because the garment can grab the road surface (which is one of the areas where leather excels over textiles). People tend to break arms and legs when they start rolling because there limbs get flicked everywhere, rather than staying beside their torso during the slide.

And as mentioned, you want the body armour to stay in the right place.

On the flip side, you still need to be able to move and bend in the leathers.

my riding leathers are snug but i can move comfortably.
the leathers with the ball gag are quite a bit tighter and more restrictive though . . .

some people prefer a slightly different fit, as long as they arent all loose on you ya should be sweet

Bought my leathers 1 size to small. I was about to take them back and get a larger pair (leathers are not cheap)... was told to stick with it, so I did.

They stretched and now fit perfectly. So perfect in fact it is a bit difficult to get them on with my new back protector, but this is now becoming easier the more I use them together and the leathers stretch. So if you have a back protector or intend to get one, try the leathers with it.

All I have to do now is avoid the pies!!

Leathers should be very firm and sewn so they are a perfect fit while in the riding position - whatever that may be. The only way I could achieve that was to have a set made. Now I need to maintain the same weight.
