So we agree in regards to the outcome of the "study"
I think I defined your brand of stupidity quite well in respect of posting silliness from the internet - you may well have a complete brain, but you show no sign of using it. As for the "study" - the people they're describing are just common or garden bigots of no particular political persuasion.

Typical right winger response. You don't understand the points of view being put across so revert to personal attack. "common or garden bigots of no particular political persuasion" as opposed to ?
    I didn't think!!! I experimented!!!

    As opposed to nothing.
Ignorant people do and say ignorant things, but it doesn't make them evil, or representative of a particular political cause, it just makes them ignorant.

You are a fine example of this.
For example, where in the study was the proof of your assertion:
true, but at least there are scientists highlighting that those who are overconfident are thick and vote national because they know no better
As for not understanding the points of view - I see you applying a US study to NZ politics, which only highlights your ignorance of US politics.
I also think that your attention span ran out after a couple of paragraphs, before you read this:
..the researchers aren't implying that all liberals are brilliant and all conservatives stupid.
As that is exactly what you said above, so the next time you use a link to prove your silly political theories, you might want to read it all

I'm sorry if you took my response as personal - perhaps it was your silly insults to 38% of the voters in the last elections from someone who admits they didn't vote.
When I said you were stupid, it was only as a result of reading your posts, something I figured that you already knew and therefore didn't consider to be personal.

So everyone is lumped under common or garden bigots with of no political persuasion?
But those who have been found, in the study, to be "ignorant" have been shown to be representative of a right wing view point and will follow right wing political causes.

We're just people, US, NZ, UK, OZ etc... and they all have right wing political parties with right wing policies... I see no difference in the politics of any of those countries.

My attention span ran to an implication that most would be stupid as the scientits had made the link.. the fact that the so called intelligent ones follow the right wing policies lends to guilt by association.

I did, but I used both sides of my brain and read it in as many contexts as I could and didn't just read what I wanted to read from the study... it would seem that you didn't, which again gives the study credence.

If you can't see the difference between local and US political parties, you really are ignorant.
The NZ National Party would be regarded as rampant socialists in the States.

I should think you should be sorry too. I wasn't insulting 38% of the population, they can't help it and I'm not as brutal as some... @not voting, sorry, I had forgotten that my opinions are to be discounted in any political arena where I didn't vote... funny, I generally only ever hear that attitude from right wingers, my mum included (she's the one with the degree in politics and history... however, she listens to my arguments and is ready to put down the you can't moan if you didn't vote propagandist slogan).
    Ok, you got me there.

If you can't see the similarities between local and US political parties, then you're coming down to my level pretty damn quickly.
That's because NZ isn't part of the US... yet. They see everyone as socialist or communist so there's no weight to your statement at all.

    That's weak even for you.
You're quoting the study, not me, so their idea of liberal/conservative is crucial.
Go back and read the study in context - it's a North American study (it's actually Canadian), and there is a world of difference between what is considered right wing over there and locally. The Democratic Party of the US makes Key & Co look like a bunch of sissy liberals.

This isn't the first time you posted overseas stuff to prove your silly theories about local politics, and all it does is make you look silly.

What context should I adopt in order to read the study as you would like me to? Is liberalism a right wing stand point?

As I've said before, people are just people... any belief otherwise would be a right wing stance.

I have no idea why you consider me to be a right winger, although I suspect that your little Orwellian fantasy world compels you to assume that anyone who disagrees with you is some jackboot wearing oppressor. Anyone who spends as much time as you do ranting about politics and then fails to vote is hardly credible, unless you have an excuse - perhaps you're a convicted felon posting from behind bars?. Excused under the Mental Health Act?

You seem to be even slower on the uptake than usual, so I'll type this slowly.
You can't lift a study from another country and apply it here whilst ignoring local context.
Obama is considered to be a liberal by some in the US, but a study of his policies would put him right of center in NZ.

, So you're not a right winger then? I don't vote because there's nothing to vote for and I won't vote just because I'm allowed to.

Of course you can, especially as there are right wingers around the globe... I've yet to see some fundamental factor from the US that can't be seen in any other country. So you're saying that being liberal is a left wing view point?

So leaving aside your shortcomings as a citizen, perhaps you could explain your thread title: "Right Thinkers are dumber than Left Thinkers".
Because, having read the Yahoo article that was linked (presumably as support), I can't see where the study proves that Right Thinkers are dumber than Left Thinkers. It asserts that people with low IQ's are more likely to be bigoted and socially conservative (bearing in mind the context of the study in the definition of "socially conservative"), but it does not mention your rather simplistic conclusion regarding the political right and left.

Perhaps the thread topic is more like "Mashman jumps to conclusions and looks silly"
