    OK. Manfeild reversed circuit.

There was an incident on the back straight halfway through the first lap, about two thirds down the field. One of the bikes caught fire, some riders were still down. The decision was made to stop the race before the front runners arrived at the scene. There was only one red flag on the circuit, at the start finnish line.

The first bunch of riders all stopped but the following groups had nothing to warn them as they entered the start straight. Fast moving group met stopped group and carnage ensued. No one rider was responsible, nor the marshal.

I wondered where you were !! MR said you might still be coming so I waited in case you were running late ... again !! ...At least you aren't out there today mate ... I still haven't heard anything more than what has been posted here ...

I was wondering if the rain that came from nowhere had a bearing on it all but from what WT has said I guess that wouldn't have fried a bike on the track huh ??
A man can move much faster without a millstone around his neck, so if he gets the chance to lose her he'd better drop her and run like heck !! .. (10cc "Modern Man Blues" - Deceptive Bends)

i have just had a phone call from mates who are racing and the accident is as above from WT.

5 bikes crashed on back straight, 1 caught fire and could not be extinguished. as a result all further racing today has been canned.

as far as i know the only KB to be injured is Mitch and she is ok, got a knock to the hand and has already been checked out. Sparky Bills was not in F3 (races clubbies) and VFRDan wasn't involved.

i was also told the name, where the person is from and what bike he rode but i don't feel its appropriate for me to release those details are second or third hand so i dont feel comfortable until they are confirmed.

my deepest sympothies are with the families involved, apparently there is going to be a full investigation by police and fire brigade who are on site now, also there were televsion crews around so it maybe on the news tonight, might pay to watch.
yeah... sorry bro, i thought that ment miles 'n hour.

    .[/QUOTE]

THERE WAS F$%&''((())'%#$#...... WHAT ....ONE RED FLAG that borders on criminal Stupidity .. that race should have NEVER have run ..

( I am only reading second hand so really am not informed )

    BUT

Since I have been subscibing to KB I have heard of 3 racers that have been killed since xmas
    THATS APPALLING , PERIOD

( this has actually pissed me off...an that doesnt happen often ,,,but there is NO way on this gods green earth that ANYONE should run such a risk in ANY sport ,,,Even THUGBY)

Please if you are racing ... GET off YOUR arses and grab a flag ,,,,an if there isnt enough people ( an I mean proper people who have a clue as to marshalling ,,not just the mates girlfiends mum ) ....and if you feel that there isnt enough safety .......

Dont F&&#& race ,,,its to frigging dangerous .........

I know I am preaching to the converted ,,,but ...I will be contacting MNZ as I am tired of this ,,,,back office make the rules do nothing ,,( and most probably get a big wedge ) bullshyite

The rider that was killed was a Palmerston North man . He was in the garage next to us one along from Martin.

Two of the other guys where from the garage next door that Kiwi Bikers from here would have meet at a recentTestday and the KR trackday. They are Rob Allen and Murray Hudson. Both are Ok but have reasonably bad injures but are conscious .

There where alot more bikes and rider where involved but I don't have any details on them.

I was in the race before (clubmans) it was my first race and was just walking out to the track to see how Murray and Rob where doing when I heard the collisons.

Excuse me if I dont post anything else.

NZ Herald article - very brief & next to no details.

That's terrible news. It would be good to get the proper story of what happened. (that Herald article was useless, it said the accident happened in the pits?!)

The news article above and the one on the TVNZ website are incorrect... the accident did not happen in the pits. It happened on the start finish straight.

Lets just say it was a correctly run meeting and all marshal points were covered by marshalls-with flags.
You're better off not saying anything at all cause you weren't there and don't have any idea how the meeting was being run. I'd suggest you all keep your conjecture to yourselves unless you've actually spoken to someone who was there.

I saw a few races today where the red flag was brought out at the start/finish but yellows elsewhere.

I did not see that incident so wont comment.

A guy I saw crawling on the start finish/line claiming "it was a yellow fuking flag" referring to the cprevious corner flag.

And the bike buring ... the van came back to get a fire extinguisher, and got told that they used em all.

    RIP dude.

Someone was Killed that is three I know off since Xmas , and that is three to many .
One the one hand you dont want to cause offence to the people who were genuinely trying to do the right thing etc

On the other hand ,someone was killed PERIOD ,which means something in the process went wrong.

AND at that level of racing SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN . PERIOD

( feel free to fire those red rep points over here , hell Ill even give meself a few ,,, but i stand by what I say ,no change,,I am F&())'&%& furious that that could happen at that level of racing and yes I am using bad language as its an indication of how pissed I am )

Once again I repeat this is not an attack on those who were trying to do the right thing etc , rather the process which allowed this ( and others) tragegy to happen.

Finally my thoughts are with all those effected by this. and out of respect this is my final post on this .( you can put me down as VERY PISSED OFF in the background )

If you are not related or friends with the deceased, I fail to fully understand why you are getting so worked up? I think you need to come to terms with death Stephen, people die every minute of every day in this world under many different circumstances, even during the circumstances we love like motor racing! This is a tragic event, and until more specific information is publicised just take a deep breath and have a moment of silence for those currently suffering...

Holy Crap. And I was thinking about entering the F3 class this round. Just read 7 others were injured, how are they doing?
