Remember the circuit was being run in reverse. (I'm not making any speculations, I am stating a fact here.).

Thankyou Lynda for clearing that up.
It' makes me think more better (don't know how it express it) of a bad situation.

We appreciate your efforts Mark to help run the meet.
Really sorry you have to go through all this.
Don't know what else to say at this time.

PS. As long as there was a red flag ready to be put out at the hairpin/start of the front straight, Then this was a "Racing Incident". (as opposed to...) A "Racing Incident" that shall be learned from, and changes made so to doesn't happen again.

Yea. Look, I honestly don't know what the situation was with red flags anywhere else on the circuit. I don't actually know how many other red flags were out there, so cannot comment on that.

Don't know what to say really. Still feeling gutted. All our thoughts go out to Owen's family. General all round top bloke.

I was one of the lucky ones who was stopped and didn't get hit by anyone.

All the marshalls did there jobs, just everyone was feeling a bit helpless due ti the scale of the accident. Emergency services were there really quickly.

And before anyone else goes on about how it should have been prevented, rest assured that the Police and MNZ will be looking very closely into what happened, and if anything needs to change, then it will.

Still can't really express what I feel in such a public forum, but these things hit you hard when it happens to you. We can't wind back the clock and change what's happened. Lets just try and make sure it doesn't happen again.

I'd also like to say I have a new found discust of the media. Fucking bastards wouldn't leave us alone.

Mate I went to East Timor when all the shit was going down in '99 and I know what you mean about the media. Some were OK but a few disgusted me. I was ashamed to say that they were from NZ.

Heard this on the news yesterday - came on here looking for details but as WT posted on epage 1 (or 2) of this thread... no names wanted or expected till families know.

Thoughts are with those injured, involved, and affected by the accident. Big thanks to all who helped

My sympathies go to the friends and families of the racer who died & also to those involved in the incident. I can't even begin to realise how horrific it would be to be a part of that.
My goal in life is to be as good a person as my dog already thinks I am.

    Horrible what happened......

How do marshalls communicate with one another?? Are they all linked by radio equipment or do they rely on visual signals or??

Just visited Murray at the hospital this morning and he's doing great. I'd exspect him to be discharged soon as its confirmed he hasn't any internal problems.

I for one know it is hopeless to speculate on why this tragic event happend as there were many contributing factors.

Having attended all the VMC rounds this year its is my opinion that they are very well organised and run.

I'm am shaken by what has happend but have no hesitation entering future events.

We went and saw Dave in hospital this morning. He went down in the first incident on the back straight. He was going to be discharged today. Broken shoulder blade and clavicle (collar bone).

This is awful news, my sympathies to those involved and affected; which one way another is all of us more or less.

To those like SVS who take the time to help organise these meetings opposed to other lazy types like me (who just turn up) I'd like to reiterate my appreciation of the work you organising type fullas do.
