Want to sell on eBay. I need advice guys

Hi y'all

I'm setting up my eBay account & would appreciate some advice on Payment Methods. Should I go with Paypal or Bank Deposit etc. What's safe & what works best. If by Bank Deposit, should this be a designated acc for eBay?

Is there any tips for not getting ripped off? (other then don't go on eBay)

I have heaps to sell. So I expect some items might be easier to 'deliver' then others. Do I allow buyers to pick-up from my place or arrange a meeting place? I ask this because some items are bike related & I don't necessarily want people being too curious about what I have.

Last thing I bought oneBay was years ago... GI Joe on a WLA ..........He's for sale

Much as I dislike them, PayPal seems to work best on Ebay.

I've sent thousands through, and the one time I was hijacked, they reimbursed everthing that was claimed (not much - about $120US).

Just make sure you set it to "email me when a transaction occurs" setting.....

I have used ebay a few times I even sold my bmw r1200s tank bag to usa and custom made rear rack to canada.

I used paypal for mine and then withdraw it back into my visa.Think all up my return was a better percentage than selling on tard me and the r1200s gear just wasnt selling in NZ due to amount of people riding same model.Freight is easy to calculate with NZ Post online but allow for scale erra and measure carefully.

Pay Pal for sure, and don't allow pick-ups, or meet anyone (as dodgy fuckers are quite likely to follow you/trace rego etc) - that's if you're really concerned about getting ripped off.
Couriers are relatively cheap and most internet shoppers are used to having stuff delivered.

De Missus does things by bank deposit and hasn't had any problems... just don't send the stuff til the cash is in the bank, then it's up to you as to how dodgy you would like to be.

Thanks guys. Some stuff is only likely to be local sale, but most could go International. So PayPal seems the go.

I'm on the big land mass to your West, mossy1200. Not sure if Tardme would of much use to me. But good to hear you have had success with overseas sales.

Ok... no dark alley exchanges, cs. I do understand what you mean though. I'm selling a bit of Triumph stuff & you know how dodgy that crowd are.



New question: How do you detemine what Reserve Price you want? I don't really know what the Triumph parts are worth, being so old & used. (the bike parts that is)

Good luck with that Cas! I met an older gentleman the other day in the Waioeka Gorge who is rebuilding a 1912 Triumph this year. He is going to struggle to get bits for sure!

Make the reserve the absolute bottom dollar you will take for each item and be realistic about it (after all, anything is only worth what someone wants to pay for it on the day), that way worst case scenario is you'll get what you wanted for it, best case is the punters get into a bidding war and you become a millionaire.... (well, you'll make a bit more than you thought anyway!)

Thanks Al. Will be fun trying to narrow down the year of some of the parts. I seem to have aqquired a few 500 front ends. I'll do some research before looking like too much of a dick.

Am doing a bit of leg work to see what similar parts are going for. I've been told one of the 500 front ends may be 'special', but we'll see.
