It's a bit like KB really, with it's cast of characters rangeing from the crazy guy to the nana. aboard machinery from the exotic to the mundane, giving opinions with little reguard to the facts or relevance to the real world. Usually funny and never to be taken too seriously.

And he was also prohibited from driving certain brands in reviews from his newspaper days, way way back.
pity they haven't reviewed bikes since those days

Lol. Funny you should say that. Whenever I read the ramblings of some KB sportsbike enthusiast condemning a cruiser's lack of power and cornering clearance, I automatically think of Top Gear's condemnation of a Bentley limo's ability to power-slide around a track...

And lets not forget the Australian version. Biggest bunch of tryhards I have ever seen. Embarrassing to watch really.

Pommy TopGear is a good hour or so of entertainment, some of the missions they go on though are getting predictable but still a laugh.

    Nice cars though.

I've heard that comes under the category of "what has been seen cannot be unseen" and it's best not to tread there

I love motor vehicles, of all descriptions. I've stayed up late just to watch something totally obscure on some unknown car. I managed about 5 minutes of TG USA before I turned it off. And you're right, it can't be unseen. I feel my whole life has been tainted now.

Of course anything that tries to replicate the 'new' style of Top gear is of course going be 'try hard' next to it lol.

Plus there's only so many Ford vs Holden jokes surely?.....

I believe this is at the heart of why the BBC cannot fire Clarkson over his comments that make headlines in the media.

The pure revenue that all of the offshoot "licenced versions" of TG, and the income from the marketing, are now far too big an earner for the beeb to overlook.

Goodness knows why anyone would watch the Australian OR the US versions.

I prefer to think that they don't fire him because it's bloody entertaining! But in this capitalist PC world, swoop is probably right.

I've watched the spin-offs, Aussie top gear was shit, US top gear is actually really good I thought. Tanner can really drive, and they are all so thuggishly american with big block cars, and skids etc it makes for very entertaining viewing.

oz tg was horrendous, seems a pointless exercise trying to copy the original too closely.
The US one was equally as bad, but at least Tanner Foust can drive!
Yeah the beeb employ clarkson just for the shock value I'm sure, but he's still only 1 comment away from a TVNZ/Paul Henry moment!!!
