im gonna be learning normal 6 string guitar at first. A family friend has a load of guitars and i babysit for them quite a bit so i figure i learn at home and then have fun on the real thing (electics and the sort) when im over there. He's in the same position as me with regards to the song. He has it somewhere on tape or vinyl, he just doesnt know where or what its called/who its by

Rumour spreadin' a-'round in that Texas town
'bout that shack outside La Grange
and you know what I'm talkin' about.
Just let me know if you wanna go
to that home out on the range.
    They gotta lotta nice girls.
    Have mercy.
A haw, haw, haw, haw, a haw.
    A haw, haw, haw.
Well, I hear it's fine if you got the time
and the ten to get yourself in.
    A hmm, hmm.
And I hear it's tight most ev'ry night,
but now I might be mistaken.
    hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm.

The 2nd easiest riff to play on a guitar ever - after 'blister in the sun'.

I thought the intro riff to "Smoke on the water" was.

Most ridiculously painful riff though is "Message in a bottle".

I've been talked into playing in the work band for the work function - covers band - and someone's mentioned this song.

Tell you what - for a short bugger Andy Summers had loooong fingers.

I'm cramping trying to stretch five frets with three fingers, particularly as the chord shape moves from second fret to sixth-seventh as a hammer-on with the pinky.

Oh well - makes up for the easy songs.

Here's the tab, if you're interested:

And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

Heard it too many times on the Armageddon soundtrack (You know the bit, all of you, when he is driving golf balls at the greenies...)

From memory, isn't the tuning all out of wack on htat one?
Couple of strings down two, (or up two? ) then it's much easier to play and sounds better.
    Were you playing off tabs?
