There is another view to the data. My trust in the others is going down faster than my trust of popos.

Seriously though, what do you think is the reason if we believe the poll?

The only thing i trust a politician to do right, is the exact opposite of what they said they would do to get your votes.

I'm surprised politicians came out trumps over real estate agents.

I don't need to respect a dairy farmer, a chef or a real estate agent just because of their job, but I was brought up being told that I should respect the Police. The fact that one quarter don't should have you hanging your head in shame, not shit stirring on here.

    Everybody likes nurses.
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

So the point of this thread is that the police respect rating has been raised due to the recession? I mean from Business leaders down are all the occupations who's greed has been seen as causing the recession and who's losses due to the recession are hurting the public.

BTW I thought the police were Public Servants . But guess most people think bureaucrat when asked the question on public servants and don't think of such people as DOC workers etc. Then there is the Government propaganda that suggests all their spending goes to these people when in fact far more of your taxes go to the "private" sector.

With Fonterra's handing of the dairy pricing in this country it is not surprising their shareholders/suppliers rate low.

Builders because of the high house prices I guess.

    But why Chefs??

All in all fish tail nothing for the poppo to crow about. I always respect the poppo as I was taught as child but then they go and behave like dicks and lose it. I respect the uniform until the person wearing proves unworthy

My 4 year old dealings with police over psycho girlfriend, left a lot to be desired. Incredibly badly handled, and psychologically damaging to all peoples involved.

However, I realize that the problem is not at the grass roots level, the guys and girls working on the streets that we see.

Did you know that CADS (community drug and alcohol services) has no screening methodology for ADHD or autism. Crazy huh? Soooooooo damaging for these poor souls

Everyone who comes in is processed in a similar manner with no real allowance for individual neurology or disorders.....Even with a formal diagnosis, you are grouped together in an antagonistic and ignorant manner

How can those dealing with the ills of society, do their job when they are not taught what and how those illnesses are??

The direction from the top is shit
Churches are monuments to self importance

You missed the bias implied by a telephone poll. These things use land lines. Who owns land lines these days and has the time to do these polls? the very people what used to teach us to respect the poppo back when they were respectable

I have no intrinsic respect for the police. I may or may not have respect for the policeman I happen to be dealing with, based purely on the way they behave.

The police are the coercive arm of the state and that, in my opinion, is reason enough to approach them with a healthy dose of distrust...

No. The armed forces are the coercive arm of the state.

The police are a subset of 'public servants'.
