Tyre blowouts

That was my first thought......but I have never herd a blowout while riding a bike just felt them

You don't usually hear it ... just feel it.

As far as truck tyres go ... retreads are still available. The common sight of bits of rubber tread strewn accross the roads ... show just how common it is.

Being paid to drive ... doesn't make them professional.

And it doesn't pay to follow them too closely, or get too close when passing.

Yeah the driver noticed and pulled over right away

Oh that was good then i had blow out on my moutain bike few months back
gave me hell of frieght put hole in tire as well must worn through i just put air to it
Biked home i thought somone shot at me first thing was like bang then relized was my rear tire
I had front go on old 100cc trailbike was pain to ride home like 12 km on flat front was all over the shop

no my dad used retreads on hs taxi in 60s he told me the Michelin tires retreaded where awsome
he chould get them drifting on all 4 wheels so goes to show good carcass is alot of it too

Like alot things its how the job gets done mind you with truck hell alot more weight maybe alot down to
overloading the trucks not the tires or heat tire pressures

Ha - funny but had exactly the same thing happen to us one day 'cept it was just in front of us - scared the living bejezus out of me....

Next time you are driving between J'ville and the 'rua check out how many scores there are in the pavement veering off to the left.

Actually, on the whole truck drivers in NZ are very professional.

They aren't all retreads and a lot of those failures aren't a fault of the retread

Am happy to run retreads on the back. I won't on the front.

I have to agree with you there even on my push bike i was behind one today and made sure where i was before turned left which was great , i keep in his mirrors so knew where i was .

Yes sometimes its the biz that push these guys and there ones that suplly the tires for the trucks
Unless the won the trucks themselves. you got to be on to to it to drive them thats for sure.

I admire them , same taxi drivers well ones i know in the family that have driven or still drive are
Top drivers very safe , who wants to have accident esp when your income thats at stake


yes i admit i brought 4 second hand tires on the mx5 had diffrent brand on ever corner
But did match up the patrerns got from tire company , i didnt have the bucks to replace them
And needed wof and rego so yeah lasted well too just worn out know after over a years use
You got watch though as for little bit more u can get good deal on new tires

damm i used to notice those scoring marks did wonder what they where from



Well have to be good as they only get cetain time to get from one point to another and alot have gps too
I should imagine they have to have feel like bike rider for what the truck doing esp with full load

Once I inflated a push bike tyre to 100psi, and put the whole wheel in a car with me. Tyre burst inside the car while I was driving. Not fun.
