    GSXR 250 engine help

    Hi all,

I'm a newbie on here but want some advice, I have a GSXR 250 in the shed with stuffed valves and i think a few other things, i bought a new engine from a wrecker to put in only to find out its a Bandit not a gsxr, the bandit motor won't fit different sump,

anyway enough rambling, what i want to know is can i take the internals from the bandit motor, i.e valves etc and put them into the GSXR engine, are they compatible

    Thanks for any help

Just get a new head from a wrecker ... Will be cheaper

They may want the "new" motor. Or come to an arrangement.

Think this was common on early ones inlet valves used to stick so been told
can you fir the sump from your orginal to your new engine just a metal lid basically
the badit engine have more low end power as they changed alot the internals cams etc
So id thought valves may be smaller esp the inlet , mind you bloody tiny anyways

Yes what fj said getting second head might be much easier let us know how you get on

Right so far no luck, have looked at the engine for parts on trade me for 120 but that auction was for the carbs, asked the seller about motor and he wants to sell block no carbs anything, no flywheel, stator or pickup, for $400, have tried few wreckers but no replies to emails getting little frustrated now, as for changing bandit sump, bandit is a bigger sump is wider as well as deeper so the sump from old motor wont fit.

if any one on this forum knows of anyone with a motor they want to get rid of even if bottom end gone

THanks all for the replies been big help

I've got one sitting in the shed (well, most of a bike actually) that my son bought for parts, have no idea what sort of shape it's in though. If you get desperate it could be worth a punt, after I move I might even see if I can make it go, just for fun.
Riding cheap crappy old bikes badly since 1987

I was being serious. Get over yourself and don't be so defensive. I am not a racist, heck I have a half Japanese daughter, and two of my neices and their brother are half Maori. You are just as bad as those that have belittled you here by attacking me through assumption or generalisation. I think an apology is due, I'd certainly demand one of you if we were in person.

    Gather up your panties kids.

The problem with pulling the GSF/GSX-R motors and making a hybrid GSXFR motor would be buying gasket kits.
The crank/rods/pistons/block should be the same.

To my knowledge, the bottom end should have been the same between them, so you may be able to fit the GSX-R sump and pick up to the Bandit/GSF motor.

Being curious here, what are the engine codes on them?
    I'm surprised they're different, unless it's a later Bandit GSF250V motor?
