How freakin awesome is this show? Gotta be totally staged, you surely can't get away with that shit in NZ without a bit of pre-empting.
Fucken gold. I'm growing a mullet again.

Orlando worked in Video Easy Ponsonby Road for years while he was a film and media student, his brother was my first tenant. Orlando is just the same in real life, a big boofy guy with a good word and time for everyone.
They made that singer from Manurewa TV series a few years back.
Churches are monuments to self importance
That was his wifes real family! Priceless journalism extracting the mother in laws concern in Orlando's prospects![]()

I caught the end of it. From what I saw it was really good. Finally a Kiwi show I might actually watch.
If it wasn't staged I don't think those two would have made it out if that Inn alive.
Mullets are gay.

bump.......... rerun of old series tonight Tv2 11.30. First 2 episodes are gold!
About the show
Rural Drift is a partially scripted comedy series that fortunes of a hapless Auckland resident, Orlando Stewart, as he heads blindly into the country in a desperate attempt to downsize, escape the stresses of the city and set up a small rural based business.
The problem is he doesn't have a clue.
Utilising the look and story telling techniques of the mockumentary comedy, Rural Drift is a sharply observed satire that mixes real life with set up scenarios.
Like Christopher Guest's groundbreaking movies This is Spinal Tap, Best in Show and Waiting for Guffman or television series like The Office and Larry David's Curb Your Enthusiasm, the series mixes the scripted and the unscripted, using set-up storylines but improvised dialogue and the incorporation of "real" characters and situations.
