Triumph Speedmaster won't run while in gear

    Crashed and rebuilt bike !

tried most everything like sidestand switch, had a spare so switched them over but still happening !

Someone said the selector rod for neutral light switch in gearbox has copper coating which may be cracked ? but that should only controll the neutral light shouldn't it, my Trumpy will still start in gear so can't be that surely

Starts and idles ok but soon as ya put it in gear it dies

    Anyone come accross this ?
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

    Bowls can wait !

is the sidestand sw NO or NC when down?
there's more to the sidestand switch operation than just the switch at the end there's a circuit to it that can be at fault too

I'm just about to go round and remove all hammers and heavy objects from anywhere near his bike so will try and suss the side stand sw while there, it has to be that or as ya say circuitry around it !

I found it easy enough to bypass on my bike when i raced mine but can't recall now if they No or Nc

Might even take mine off if i can get near the bike in the garage lol be just his luck to have two crook switches

clutch lever switch? Has to pull if starting while in gear, although some bikes you have to pull it starting anyway. Stops you sprawling across the carpark if in gear without the clutch pulled & hit the starter.
Don't you look at my accountant.
He's the only one I've got.

Hi, have you sorted the bike yet?

Here's a link that will help with the sidestand switch: http://www.triumphrat.net/twins-tech...477-words.html

Yeah sorry sorted it (5 minutes after i got to his house hehe) different set up to the speed three but still a NC set up !
Side stand is more up the front on the speed master and when this bike was crashed, it munted the old side stand switch (which was replaced) but in doing so, it also bent 80% of the mount bracket upwards a minimal amount (say 2-3 mm) which my mate never noticed and didn't effect the mounting of the switch, untill i looked closely and saw the carbon button wasn't being hit square by the side stand (so whipped it off) ! Found the carbon button of the switch was ever so slightly touching the point where the mounting bracket meets the frame, so as it popped out when the side stand was retracted it didnt come out 100%! bloody close but no cigar !!!

So of course once i undid the screws holding it, all was revealed !!
