Thumbs up Yamaha FZR250 in a VT250 Honda frame?

would it be possible to fit these little gems into my early vt 250 frame

and what are approx mesurments across the cylinder heads inline 4

say a suzuki or cbr just for general idea doesint have to inch perfect

my frame is the one with detacable frame cle square section tubing mid 80s
but after the round tubular first vt 250

it be if the cylinders fir between the cradle at the bottom of the frame the cylinder are forward slanting also

I haven't heard of anyone putting a 4 cylinder into a VT250 frame but that doesn't mean it hasn't been done.

If you're just looking at options for what to put into the VT250 frame you've already got you might want to look into a big single. I've seen a couple of projects online where people have put a Yamaha SRX600 engine into a Spada frame. (Which isn't what you've got but I assume the important dimensions are similar since they had the same engine from the factory.) I reckon a 600cc single in a VT250 frame would be shedloads of fun.

Frame is trash, waste of just about any motor you put in it.

its doable, but youll need to get custom engine mounts which will require certs. in doing this, the power output may increase enough that you need to do brake modifications as well, and if youre gonna do that, you might as well look into an upgraded front end as well.
Seems like a lot of effort for no gain to me, but if its a project to do 'Just because' then fuckit, go for it.

I think a big single would be a better idea, like an XR 600 or something would be sweet, probably quite alot easier too.

Yes i think single myself well my ideal whould be like rgv frame with single motor maybe 400cc
but just this motor avaible minus carbs and just bare motor for 325.00 which is cheap
And not sure when single engine will be avaible i had no luck with getting orginal vt 250 motor
I dont think frames are shit look and feel pretty good to me when had engine in it nice light
Ats always good foundation to work with , know old gsx 1100 frame that be shit to put single engine into hehe or worse a cb 750 oh the shame

I think go with the Yam engine i like them you need rev thats only down side compared with
relaxed single mind you vt motors where rev happy too so not to out charcter

Thanks for the replys and your most welcome to call over dude

There was a 250 inline 4 transplanted into small mx frame a few years ago so anything is possible for a cost of cash and time .
Wouldnt that v motor end up costing alot more if you need get carbs ,exaust and electrics.trying to get the exausts out of the v motor wouldnt be easy in that vt frame also.
A nice 500-600 single would end up a better bike in my opinion.xr600 maybe or xt .there must be some cheap complete dirty bikes that will provide all the gear you need and a slender single will be alot easier to make good mounts for. Also a inline four will be hard to get chain alignment when the vt had a slender motor.
I have evolved as a KB member. Now nothing I say should be taken seriously.

You would'nt happen to remember where you saw that? Ive been thinking the same with my spada now 'cause she's a bit beat up & would make a nice project.

Unfortunately not, I had a bit of a search when I first posted that but wasn't able to find it. I'm still not having much luck but I'm pretty sure I wasn't imagining it. I remember there being a decent sized page about a guy in the states who'd kept a record of his build, which was based on another SRX engined Spada that his mate had. This was at least 3 years ago so the domain might've expired since it wasn't on a big forum.
