A bit off-topic, but regarding Mr Haslam and his freshly screwed break, one Alex Barros had this to say during Saturday's QP:
@alexbarrosrider (Alexandre Barros)
As mean a feat as Biaggi's last-to-2nd race was, I think Haslam showed a tremendous amount of guts just being out there. Laverty too. And, yes, Biaggi — what a fuggin' great ride in Race 2!@realleonhaslam congratulations you have really big balls, continue with this spirit and determination, so the true champions are born
Right guy on the right bike. I couldn't believe how much drive that thing had. He smoked everything on the straights. The Suzuki, the Honda's and most impressive, the BMW's.
Interestingly, the other ART bike with Laverty (injured but so was Leon Haslam) wasn't able to keep up. So that tends to point to the rider and bike being very in tune.
No doubt he's a very, very talented rider. Shame he isn't as likeable as others.
Zen wisdom: No matter what happens, somebody will find a way to take it too seriously. - obviously had KB in mind when he came up with that gem
Artificial intelligence is no match for natural stupidity
You don't get to be an old dog without learning a few tricks.
Shorai Powersports batteries are very trick!
It was well worth walking... standing... sitting.. lying... melting at the track for.
Max & Carlos showed the rest of the young pups alright. It does make you wonder about the level of ability, talent that the Superbikes have this year if these two old Masters can steal the show.
I've met both Max & Carlos a couple times over the years & luckily any "personality' traits were left on the track. So yeah... I'm a fan.![]()
Wasn't Phillip island supposed to be not an RSV4 friendly track last year? If that's the case I think we've just seen the championship winning machine... by a country fuckin mile. Ducati are already whining.
It'll be interesting to see if Laverty can keep the old geezer honest. He didn't do too badly last year with Melandri.
The Beemer still looks like it wants to tie itself into a knot at the slightest excuse. Melandri and Haslam are a strong team though.
Kwaka looked promising but Sykes isn't top drawer by any means.
Like Jonny Rae on the Honda. He'll win a few races but can't see the bike being capable of winning the championship. Aoyama with two top tens first time out didn't disgrace himself.
Hope Biaggi doesn't just romp away with it... easily bored... didn't like it with Checa last year.
Regardless of how old they may be, Carlos and Max are as fast now as they ever were. It's up to the SBK guy's to step up and try to be as fast as these two masters. I think it's great they are there as a bench mark. How fast are the Superbike guy's if they can't beat two old farts who have been considering retirement.
In regards to personality, I've met Max several times and found him to be humble and considered. He is as delightful to chat to as Carlos, who nobody evercomplains about.
As far as Max and Carlos leading a procession this year, both had near crippling incidents happen to them at the first round, and luckily they got away with it. Anything could happen this year, which is why sport is such a great drama.
If you want to talk about boring, Motogp CRT may have what your talking about.
"That's rooted!! What's next??"
