WTF? 11.30pm, poor black lab, tinted visor!

Coming home from a pleasant evening out , stopped to help a young fella pick his bike up off the middle of the road. Turns out he'd hit a big black Labrador, which was nearby and unfortunately died shortly after as a result of the impact. As we lived about a km away, we offered to store the bike in our Garage overnight so that he could get his injuries dealt with & make arrangements to get the bike home. It was still rideable (just) so I popped on his helmet & followed my car home - bikes lights were screwed, amongst other things. Got the bike started & flicked the visor down & it was like turning out the lights - very dark tinted visor. Once home safely & young fella a little more comfortable I inquired about the use of the visor & his night time riding. He said it was down as it was too cold to leave it up and he couldn't afford a clear one. In as a nicer way as possible , after having just totaled his bike, killed a dog, hurt his shoulder and wrist , I let him know he was an absolute plonker for riding at night with a tinted visor.
Annoyed at him for his stupidity & REALLY annoyed at the owner of this lovely black Lab for letting it wander. Bike was trailered away today by his Dad & it appears there are no broken bones. Could have been much worse ( but not for the dog). Lesson learnt I hope !!
If you don't know where you are going , any road will get you there ............

If the BLACK labrador had smiled, he would have seen it !

Do you get more points for killing a Black dog rather than a white one ?

I hope you told the dog owner off as well.

Owner should be prosecuted and pay for bike too !

People dont buy a new chain because they cant afford one .... Or ... a new tyre ... or the rego ... or ....

Lessons will still be learnt. He's young. Still time to learn it all ... if he lives long enough.

Well he can get a new visor for $35. May not fit his helmet but ...
Of course if it is a fancy helmet perhaps double or triple my quote but I assumed if he couldn't afford a visor he couldn't afford a fancy helmet to go behind it ... so it could be an 'FFM' helmet for which you can get a new visor for $35 (I asked yesterday as Mrs Oakie ws looking at replacing her helmet with an FFM.) (OMG and LOL, just realised an 'FFM' can also be something entirely unrelated to biking but will involve 'riding'... if you don't follow, Google 'FFM' and scan down a few entries).

I'm betting ...when he gets his bike fixed ... with a new helmet ... it will have a clear visor.
