    Since you are pre 1978 you do not need any stop lamp , and may have a "rear brake only" one if you choose.

    CAVEAT: Things are different if you are registering a bike for the first time , ie getting it VIN'd
    Thanks for the info guys. The bike is a first time rego in NZ so will need to go through the Vin process. Although the bike has been here since '95 it has never been Vin'ed or registered in NZ.

    Harsh - my scooter got away with no light for the front brake. I think that retroscooter in auckland has inline switches - might be worth giving them a ring.
