To all those who took part in yesterday’s Relay Ride , thank you all very much for your time and effort in the days/weeks leading up to this event.

We had four to start with at Karaka but Hellzie spotted (and well spotted) a nail in her rear tyre so she and Tim went back to Cycletreads to get it seen to.
Madness and Myself left at 1.05 and arrived in Pirongia soon after 2.30.
Met up with Kerry /Big Al and Kevie and headed for Te kuiti.
The times worked out really well.
The Naki guys arrived just after 4pm with the Eastern guys arriving at around 5pm.
We headed for home just after 5.30pm with 250kms in front of us.
I passed Upper Harbour at 7:45 (which we had intended to be at the Stadium around 8pm so that would have worked out spot on)
500 Ks for an afternoon ride.
Gremlin done well over 800 K’s…massive effort mate and a personal thank you for doing the damn thing.
Was good to see Katman/Marty and Dogs (albeit a short time)
I thought Al would have at least turned for a Latte’.
Collected another $100 also.
The Bags/Thread Book turned out brilliant…it’s already been said but, big thanks again to those who had them made.
It has been a real pleasure to be involved with this event (and all those who pitched in/donated and turned out) over the last few months.
Thanks again guys and girls…we done Tony proud.

URENUI to TE KUITI

Due to the last minute switch from Saturday to Sunday (definitely the right choice) and a bit of Cancer rehab, the Naki Riders were few in number on the day ,however, we rode as representatives of those that wanted to be there but couldn't make it. ADMENK, MOVISTAR,PUSSY,SHAFTY,TAFF1954 etc.

Thank you to NADROJ for bringing the more southerly crew to URENUI on the roads less travelled and a huge Thank you to PRITCH for his company there and back and of course DOGSNBIKES and his good lady for his outstanding effort.

A memorable day and ride in the sunshine. You know of course the biggest absentee was Tony himself, had he been well and had this been for another worthy cause, he would have been one of the first to sign up for it.

Anyway, enough thankings sorry if I omitted anyone the old memory is not what it was. Well done everyone involved in the ride, the relay and the fund raising.

A small kick in the nads for cancer delivered courtesy of the KB boys and girls.

If I had been able to, I would have joined the ride - specially since my ex recently succumbed to cancer.

No problemo... had to get back to Auckland somehow...

Cheers to everyone else as well. 7 for the leg to Kapiti, some delicious breakfast provided courtesy of Paul and Vicky after an interesting ride over Pie-cock hill, then 4 took the batons on to Sanson (but Sinful didn't have a decent carrying option so I threw them in my waterproof top box). There they split and as Maha requested, I followed the baton east, 6 riders in all. Baton was handed over to MSTRS and yungatart (I gave her a big hug courtesy of KoroJ who had other things do to) and 6 took them to Taupo where Katman was waiting. He didn't have a good idea for carrying it, so I threw it in the Givi box again, and 4 riders set off to meet Maha in Te Kuiti. We had a short break (rather welcome for me) before 7 set off for Auckland (note the pattern? 7-4-6-6-4-7), but slowly dropped to 4 I think, as we slowly split off. I dropped off on the motorway and headed home, as there was no official end point... While Warkworth was an option I still had to go home... so home was easier

I'll dig out my photos this evening I think... Did 860km I think, Wellington to Auckland... coulda sworn it was normally 650-700km?? Oh well, musta detoured somewhere in the middle in 13 hours all up (including stops).

While not able to join the ride I was at least able to make a donation and well done to all who were able to join in. I have been acting as chauffeur for a dear friend battling breast cancer as she must travel in to Auck Hosp for radiation treatment.

I've had the priviledge of meeting Tony and can only add my support to him and his family along with all.

Me too, the Bride had her operation to remove her breast tumour today and it all went a bit pear shaped, the poor thing spent two hours under the knife as they lost some equipment inside (I kideth not). She's on the mend now though, well enough to throw me a punch for saying she looked really hot in those surgical stockings . Hope your friend fares well and pussy and pritch and and, there is way too much of this going on.

I agree, way to much! It seems everyone is going through it or knows someone close battling it. Adelle is a strong lady but she's 78 and just recovered from a stroke. She and her husband are a couple of the nicest people you could have the priviledge to call friends.

Cheers guys for the ride,and best of luck John and Marty re outcomes for you and cancerned,cancer is a bitch,but it brinhgs out the best in most people,certainly from my point of view,am having dodgy net problems down south but try to keep up with news.

Weather has been great so far and have travelled far and wide,we live in an awesome land,man the west coast is a bikers paradise for sure,once again thank you good people,am blown away,and rest assured want to catch you all when back in the Naki,am thinking of a tour of a bike museum, meeting with my mate Steve who featured in kiwirider in November so will suss it out,he's another good bastard,were neighbours for many years in little Hawera lol.
