"The girls were in tight dresses, just like sweets in cellophane" Joe Jackson
Small correction - they're not hand protectors but lever guards. Very common in the US and possibly Europe now.
This link provides a bit more info on their intended use: http://www.superbike.co.uk/viewers/v...ver+protectors
Edit: At a guess I'd say that other link was a combined clutch and rear brake setup. Pull for clutch, push for rear brake.
Any idea who's bike that is?
Before you judge a man, walk a mile in his shoes. After that, who cares? ...He's a mile away and you've got his shoes
second one may be a combined clutch and gearlever thingy?

Knavery Artificial Spurious Pretentious Arseholes
Not sure if they're mandatory but Alex Briggs was saying that they're now in MotoGP and Moto2.
There was a graphic portrayal of the sort of thing the protectors are designed to protect, season before last?. Bautista's (?) bike made contact with another bike exiting the last corner of a race. His front brake went on hard and he came off hard - at speed.

Been thinkin about them for a while now...

Looks like something form Ben Hur ! Rip open the leathers of your competitors as you pass![]()
"You never understood that it ain't no good, you shouldn't let other people get your kicks for you" - Bob Dylan
mandatory for Motogp this year, probably the other classes as well (at least moto2 but 50% already were using)
wonder what happens when someone gets a hand or couple of fingers caught under one however........
For anything race related from arai helmets, to sprockets and chains, XT Lap timers, HRC parts you name it, Kev can get it www.racesupplies.co.nz
Me too. I was also looking at putting a guard on the swing arm so that you can't get anything caught in the sprocket/chain (mandatory in Britain/Europe these days). Although now I need a bike to put some on

I've bought a few Rizoma bits and pieces lately and the quality is superb, I got all my stuff from these guys: http://www.pjsparts.com/catalog/prod...oducts_id=1392
They seem to have the best prices in the US and the dollar's damn good at present plus you just can't buy this stuff here. (And I doubt you will, at least in the case of these guards as the market wouldn't be big enough considering all the unique fitments they have)
Paige & PJ that own PJ's Parts are great people (and motorcyclists themselves) with a small business that provides fantastic service, I highly recommend them.
P.S. Good to see you having a great season Sloan, keep up the good work
Product blurb: Rizoma ProGuard System is an innovative invention that adds safety, aerodynamics and style to your bike. The Rizoma ProGuard Systems prevents accidental contact with the levers and adds weight to the end of the handle bar quelling hand-numbing vibration, much like bar end weights do. The Rizoma ProGaurd System also deflects air around the lever end where air swirls causing drag, especially at higher speeds. And besides all their practical attributes, they look darn good! As with all Rizoma products the quality in materials and craftsmanship is extraordinary.

Having seen leathers torn open by a bar end at the Sound of Thunder, those things scare me....IMO anything like that on the end of a bar should be a closed loop.
Mandatory in MotoGP ?....don't see very many sets of baggy leathers among those guys, the thought of a bunch of novices in secondhand badly fitting leathers runing in close company with those fitted makes me shudder....

In stock here in NZ....Have been for about 18 months and widely used in NZ Road racing by smart riders who value their body parts.
