    Advice on selling my VTZ250

    Gidday all,
I was an avid rider in CHCH until the whole Quake thing happened, since September 2010 my bike's been sitting in my father's garage.

NOW, my partner's gone out and bought a new car and I need to stump up with a grand - or ideally, two.

My problem now is that I don't know how I should sell it. Do I...
    A) AIWI.
    B) Get it through the bike shop, oil change and fresh battery, whatever else is required to get it running sweet as.
    C) As above, with new Rego and WOF

Also, $1 NR auction, or fixed price listing?

Which do you think is going to get the best return on investment? I paid $2,600 and have only put on 2,000KM max.

PS: We're in Nelson now, as our place in Bexley was written off.

    Thanks in advance,
    Alex

    Ha, great answer!

I guess luckily for me I've got a '72 CB175 tucked in the garage as well that I'll start riding once it ticks over the 40 year mark.

    Any other thoughts?

    Cheers,
    Alex

Personally i would just get a new battery and then service it myself, keep the receipts from the items you bought to show to the buyer you have just done it - that is as good as a shop doing it in my eyes most bikers will do there own service so must of your customer base will understand and accept it, as long as you show it was done recently most buyers are happy with that. Explain in your listing you have just got a new battery and serviced it - have the dated receipts to that fact.

Get it WOF as well, the biggest concern a buyer has - 'Is the bike road worthy and going to cost me extra to get it on the road after i buy it or is the reason its not wof'ed because if failed dramatically the last time and costs too much to fix to get it on the road now?' - myself - I wont give listings a second look if i cannot see that the vehicle was not wof'ed in the last couple of months.... Getting a new WOF shows that the potential buyer will not have to do any extra work on it in the short term.

Personally i would not worry about Reg, if someone is going to buy a bike they will expect like most the have to stump up for road tax. If you feel you want to then get 1/2 months max.

If you stick it on trademe, then put it in at auction at your lowest you will take for it, if only one person bids on that price at least you will get that, anything else with other bidders is then a bonus. 250s are still sort after for learners so they will be easier to sell than a bigger bike.

That can be arranged-she is twice the man you will ever be-at least twice the rider too, judging by past forum comments. However I dont know if she could explain what a twat you are in words simple enough for you to understand. Now, rather than attempting to display your rapier like wit, how about a little sympathy to the OP, who has lost his family home, had to relocate to another town, and has to sell his bike and was seeking genuine advice. Too many concepts for such a self centred mind?-take your time, you will get it eventually.....
