Fair weather rider
Anyone have a idea on what size it is before i go out and buy the wrong size, i went to adjust my chain today to realize i do not have anything that i have used on previous bikes that will come near to fitting it, the bloody thing is massive..i was going to use a tape measure but know that a couple mm out could mean slipping and stripping.

from memory it should be 36mm, measure across the faces with a tape measure to double check.

Yeah can't go wrong. . . . As long as the thread pitch is the same.
There are Metric standards but different options could be used depending on the application. Brake banjos are the same dia for example but there are two commonly used threads.

Rock up to your local repco store and get one to fit, the salesmen are there to help the customer.

don't think so Drew, I can't find reference specifically a socket, i'd be getting a ring spanner it'll be easier to use

actually there's no reference to wanting to buy a tool hence my misreading of the thread & the heading saying 'Nut'
Those big axle nuts get pretty hard to shift. Esp when the last guy to touch it was the apprentice doing the tyre change & rattle gun on 4.
Decent size Breaker bar to undo so one is not tempted to hang any manner of Heath Robinson extns to get undone.

Powerbuilt do a 36mm socket in 1/2" drive.
Do the nut up to 72.5 foot pounds torque.
