Dunedin: Anyone have a working GN250 I could have a look at to help fix mine

Hey, does anyone have a GN250 or know of anyone with a running GN250 in Dunedin that I could have a quick probe at with my multimeter?

I want to see if I can get a reading from the stator, as I am getting nothing at all on my girlfriends bike. And I think I should at least be getting really high resistance or open loop readings if stator is shagged but im not getting anything register on the multi.

If I can get it to register on yours then I could maybe narrow down the charging sys problems.

Can throw some beer or something your way too if neccessary but you wont really have to do anything except let me come around and whip the seat off, probe 3 times into stator plug and then put seat back on.

Would be much appreciated and could save us a bunch of coin.

They only run downhill ... find the lowest part of Dunedin.

It's a scottish city ... nothing is given away.

    Gidday Fast Eddie,
Most (all?) stators will work in a very similar manner, just poke your own bike with the multimeter, wont that give you a rough guide to what you can expect from your girlfriends?

yea the problem is that I can't get anything at all registered on my multimeter when testing the girlfriends GN, its bugging me - so I thought maybe if I try another GN and see if I get a reading off their one so I know that I am doing it right on the bike or if there is some possible cause that no GN will give me a reading on my multi.

That way (if I get a reading off the other GN) I can assume there is probably a problem with the stator on gfs bike, but if I dont get a reading off either gn then i will assume that there is something i dont know and i wont get a reading off the stator so it might still be good.

Just trying to pinpoint the prob in the charging system before I tell the mrs to spend her money buying a part.

no problem getting a reading off the blade. I think there is something specific to the GN setup why i cant get a reading from a GNs stator.. i took sidecover off and looked at all the wiring and it looks so new i find it hard to believe the stator has burnt out/shorted out or whatever goes wrong with them. no visible damage anyway
