    Idiots

Coming down dominion rd tonight, doing about 30-40kmh in the bus lane - just moved into it because there was a line of cars ahead and wanted to make sure I had been there for a bit instead of appearing out of nowhere.

Some idiot in a blue BMW car decides to turn right.. I am thinking.. wow, he's close.. err.. "thump".

Some how managed to get my bike on a bit of an angle, so all I got was a scratch from just behind my right leg down to the end of the muffler and a bit of blue paint left on it as well.

    He didnt stop..

The bike seems ok, but should I get the thing checked by someone to make sure there is no damage I cant see? Its a 2001 Volusia Intruder.
You can see a bit of the blue paint here..

    hah.. scaled.. lol

Nah, I think he was trying to be a smartass and cut the corner close behind me.. and misjudged it.. which is why he didnt stop.

And yeah.. we're allowed on all bus lanes in Ak, except those that specifically say "no bikes".

    Yes, they are.

The OP needs to learn how to ride in that environment, though. Based on the description, I don't blame the BMW driver.

Many bins happen on bus lanes around Auckland because riding there in traffic makes you invisible from the other side of the road.

Filtering down the middle of the road is safer. If you're going to travel in a bus lane in traffic you need to be super aware of any possibility of vehicles turning across your path.

Yeah.. been riding down that road for a year on motorbikes and push bikes.. and I'm not silly.

However, in this case I was alone.. and he WAITED...There were no cars in front of me, they were 50m on the other side of him, and nothing coming behind me for quite a bit. He waited till I was nearly thru, nailed it and tried to go around me, and screwed it up.. I guess, giving the benefit of the doubt he might have been trying to get inbetween me and the cars coming, but showing an even greater lack of driving skill and judgement flocked that up too.. since he had heaps of time.

and yeah.. I assume they are all out to get me..

I'd watch out if I were you ... apparently there are a few idiot drivers in Auckland ...
800cc Volusia Intruders aren't the most nimble in traffic at the best of times.

And it may pay to resize that imbedded image before you get infracted for it.

Depending on the model of BMW that hit you, your bike's average value has just gone up. Potentially significantly.
    Don't 'clean' that paint off!
