I managed to seat a 190/55 rear tyre using this method.
It wasn't easy because (i think) there isn't enough volume in the tyre to get a big enough bang to put the tyre fully on the bead seat.
My trick was too to put LOTS of lighter fluid in the tyre and attach an airline at 50psi to the stem (valve out)
Wave a naked flame about and when it reaches ideal air/fuel ratio, bang occurs and air pressure takes over to finish the job
Took a few trys but I done did it!
Also my forearms were soooooooo smooth with no hair left on them

Like this? Just do it 4 times for your cage :P
LOL your GF's hairspray would do the trick.and free
Yep, seen it done and it works a treat. I wouldn't use Brakleen though for fear of what the residue would do to the tyre.
brake clean doesn't leave residue....thats why you can safely use it to clean brakes.
Opinions are like arseholes: Everybody has got one, but that doesn't mean you got to air it in public all the time....
Sweet cheers guys, might have to give it a go, see if I can't get my tire sealed again

What is wrong with the pressure, bounce, pop method? Worked many many times on our paddock bashers (for some reason tyre pop off when you go sideways into ruts)

Push the tyre onto the first rib bit for both sides so it seals and you can put pressure in it, put 40-50psi in there (one side sohuld pop over and bead at this point), chuck it on the ground (tyre hits obviously) and the shock will cause the tyre top pop out and bead properly. Safer than just slamming 80psi or whatever in there to do the same thing.
