In most insurance cases ... If your vehicle is legal (Reg & WOF up to date) and YOU were not under the influence ... they pay out. Mistakes happen (even big fuck-ups). Being blameless in an accident is not (usually) a requirement to be paid out. However ... look at your excess ... is it worth it ???

If you're lane splitting and things turn to shit, it's because you failed.

Assume that attitude and you'll live longer.

Pleased you are ok but take a lesson from this that when you ride everyoneone on the road wants to kill you. If you had been riding correctly and within the limits of your knowledge, experience and skills this would never have happened. A motorway is not a good place to practice your skills nor is it a track!

If I was the driver of the car that you hit I'd take the option of incorrect lane change, which is around $150ish and argue that you were in the wrong!!! If you are insured driving within your licence conditions and were not influenced by alcohol or drugs you should get insurance , but the next time round it's going to be expensive..

Don't get me wrong, I split daily and at a reasonable pace, including taking risks, however I still manage to stay safe and there are times when I just sit back and wait. You will learn to look at a number of factors like the drivers head position, car movement, speed and position along with other indicators they intend to change lanes with or without warning. Also other vehicle ahead and what they are doing.

Oh I do take that attitude but that doesn't mean I don't want my bike to be fixed hopefully without me having to pay for it

I have done all these things multiple times having seen that a person is about to change lanes without any notice and slowed down to avoid this. This time I didn't, you can't tell me that there aren't times that even the most experienced rider makes a mistake on something that they have done perfectly every other time

So you lane split, get knocked off, and all you are worried about is insurance paying out......fuck me I wonder some times.

Didn't see they were about to change lanes ... or didn't slow down ... ???

How often you do things perfectly matters little. It's when others in your vicinity don't do things perfectly ... that really matters.

The only reason that that is the main thing I am worried about is because I was lucky enough to walk away with only a couple or small grazes. I am going to try to be more aware, more alert but there is nothing I can change about this particular incident now. Should I be concerned about injuries that I don't have healing? What are you thinking I should be worried about with regards to this situation?

    She crashed. FLAME HER!!!!

Insurance should pay if you can get the dudes Plate and license numbers, and you'll go excess free, if he'll admit to them that he was at fault.

Clearly you don't agree with lane splitting.

Umm, stiff shit. Some of us do it to save ourselves some time, and with the right attitude and awareness it's perfectly safe.

I dunno if you're aware, but motorcycles are an inherently bad idea. With only one wheel at each end they are quite prone to falling over. Most of us have had it happen, and all who have didn't expect it, or do it on purpose.

Hypocrisy is still alive and well everywhere I look!

So ... the OP obviously didn't have the right attitude, or lacking in awareness ... because she did things perfectly every other time. Which do you suppose of those two, was she not doing right ???

The words "I've done it plenty of times before with no problems ... it's perfectly safe" crop up on this site often. Especially in "I've crashed" threads ...

If all riders/drivers (of both sexes) have the right attitude and awareness .....

    But they don't ....
