    Wrist pin bearings

    Any help apreciated.
For a two stroke engine, longish story the bottom end im using has a 22mm pin, 105 long rod , and a 19mm OD for the small end. The piston has a 14mm pin, i can find 18mm x 14 no problem but 19 14 are a bit harder to find. Do they exist? 19 x 15 and 20 x 15 are both available.

Worst case is having to bore the piston to 15mm, not realy what I want to do

I ran into the same issue. and ended up opting for boring out the piston to suit the rod and cutting down the wrist pin (not ideal, but a good starting point). also set the clips futher in, so to reduce the potential for things to start falling apart (I'll let you know how it turns out soon)...

I think "Busa pete" came up with another solution...

    so, what are you building?

right, well, nice!!!!! I assume that its a RGV barrel?
did you do the sleeve yourself? if so nice job.

It great to see so many two stroke projects coming on...

Wallace at Marshland engineering made the sleeve , marked the ports on it and roughed the ports , i spent a few hours grinding the ports to the mask Wallace etched on thesleeve, the nervy bit was fitting it which went really well. Yea its a RGV250 VJ22 barrell

That's some nice work. I couldn't stomach it and open up the wallet, though I'd be keen to give it a go next time (as you can get some cheapish blank sleeves out of Thailand ~$20 + shipping).

Did you get the power valves working? or are you going to lock them in the "racing position"?

The bridged exhaust port opens up more options.

What's the length of the H100 rods? 110?

Pro-X are your friends for mixing and matching bearings. I bought the rod kit i wanted and then went through the catalogue till I found the bearing I needed.

I've done that with the RGV barrel on a full crankcase reed conversion TF125 bottom end. Don't try using the standard screwed up combustion chamber shape, weld it up and cut it back to a nice squish into a bowl type of setup. It'll give you instant horsepower and a better spread.

turns out H100/MB are no good as only 100 long and 15mm small end.

I a going to turn up some plugs to replace the PV's mostly because I dont have pvs, but can look at fitting them later i needed, not sure how effective they would be as they are 4 or 5mm further from the piston face than the std 125cc barrel.

I agree about the bridged port, seems to be the way to go, look inside a rs125 or cr125 or just about anythng thats fast they all have them

Thanks Mike , I had a dummy run at relocating the spark plug in a old head, went alright but had a couple of inclusions or holes in the threaded part so I will have another stab at it before doing a good one. I was thinking I would try to scale a CR125 combustion chamber for my 50mm bore and see how it goes

I've found / modified a neat excel spreadsheet, that does a lot of maths in terms of head design and squish velocities, volumes / shapes etc
PM me you email address and I'll send a copy to you if ya interested ( i cant seem to up load it).

If you destroy your good head let me know (I've got a few sitting around the shed from the bad old days).

From Bert…and originaly posted on the team ESE thread, some might find these pages useful, when it comes to sizes/product numbers of conrods and bearings etc.:-

Don't forget about wally's 4T twin, F5dave's 100 (if he gets it finished) and I'm sure Bren must have something on the way.

The big question is---> has buckets taken over as the NZ's premiere formula class yet????

    What do you mean yet?
"If you can make black marks on a straight from the time you turn out of a corner until the braking point of the next turn, then you have enough power."
