Just got a email about a noise limit for this event:
I must say I'd be pretty pissed off if I was kicked off the event because my bike failed this ... There must be many who don't know if their bike passes the 95db limitDue to recent pressure to reduce the noise of motorsport to the legal 95dBA limit, noise monitoring from a calibrated dBA meter will be used and enforced at this meeting.
· A machine in excess of 100dBA will be immediately removed from the circuit and will take no part in the event.
· A machine in excess of 95dBA will be given one opportunity to reduce there exhaust to below this threshold. If it fails a second time it will be excluded from the event.
· Please do not try to silence with steel wool pads they disintegrate and blow out causing a serious hazard. Consider inserting a noise reducing baffle or plate to the muffler and securing it properly.
It's been done to death here in the more racing orientated forums. It's not just a HD issue, it affects all MNZ sanctioned events.
And you say you've never been tested? If you've been recently you would have been ... the testing is done along side the track as motorcycles race by - not standing beside the motorbike - which is why you can't tell if you'll pass till you actualy go past. You could go past the test point 50 times, and then fail the 51st time.
Pretty much all tracks for road orientated bikes in NZ now have a testing regime.
And unless your in the top group, you probably have nothing to worry about.![]()
OK - just never heard it even mentioned at any trackday or CSS event before.... Guess we'll be fine then. Cheers![]()
Just looking at the weather forecast:
http://www.myweather2.com/Motor-Raci...rk.aspx?sday=2
I think we should be fine.
Note that it is saying the temperature will only be 5 degrees at 6am! So take plenty of warm clothes to begin with (I think I'm going to wear my codura jacket over my leathers for the ride down). By 9am it will only be 12 degrees. I think I might run my tyres a little lower on pressure than normal, as it's going to be hard to get any temperature into road tyres (like I have). I got a feeling we are going to have more trouble in the first couple of laps for each round due to the much colder track temperatures (I hope everyone takes extra care).
The goods news is the forecast is saying it is going to be sunny from 9am to 3/5pm. Yay!
And the only other interesting bit is the 70% cloud cover for most of the day. That spells noise problems!
OK so to finalise times and dates:
We are meeting at 6:00am for 6:15am leave at Cycletreads, to get there at around 7:15 after a fill at Mercer.
Any objections?
Who will be there?
I will be there with a mate.
