I have a badly faded red car, what's the best polish to give it a shine?

one of the fleet is a red honda prelude that the paintwork is pretty fucked on, i have just repossessed it from boy#1 and boy #3 is going to learn to drive in it its not worth the cost of a paint job, pretty much all the panels facing up are badly oxidised whats the best longest lasting fix

Clear coated red cars can be a bugger to fix. If you ever find yourself up here you can lend my polisher.

Other than that a couple of grades of cutting polish and a few hours of elbow grease. Get No3 to help.

Why bother?
(a) No.3 won't appreciate it - or he'd be badgering you to let him do it.
(b) No.3 is very likely going to scuff it a tad while learning to drive.

Thats a bloody good idea Flip,"before you drive it you polish it"...Finish off the hard work with either Mothers or Meguiars polish Jimmy.

That to is a very good couple of points,wayyyyy back when a young fella i had an XW ute and came across an XYGS in a small dealers showroom,fell in love with the thing and when talking to the dealer about price etc he said "not sure but it needs a good clean up (it did) and some TLC before i put it up for sale,theres been quite a few guys in here pestering me about the thing" so next morning was a Saturday i got up early and went and parked outside his showroom until he turned up when he arrived he said "i told you blah blah...) i said "im here to help clean it up" which i spent the day doing,at some stage he offered me a price for my ute and sold me the GS.

The last Prelude I look at doing a cut and polish had very thin paint. Tried a patch, but had to cut so much paint off it worked out not worth doing (would be no paint left on the car to protect what was left).
