    eek Here we go again

Now I am not going to swing either way on this untill more facts have come out, but ........

A motorcyclist has crashed in Waverley, South Taranaki, while being chased by police.

The rider went down on Weraroa Rd, State Highway 3, about 8.20am.

The extent of the rider's injuries are unknown.

Emergency services and the Serious Crash Unit have been called to the scene.

    More to come.

    I prefer the phrase

"running from the Police" as opposed to being "chased by the Police"

Throttle and brake are on the same side of the bike

Don't worry the police wouldn't have been chasing at the time, they would have pulled off 2 mins before the crash as per police procedure

So this is the update .....

wo investigations have been launched after a motorcyclist crashed during a high-speed police pursuit in South Taranaki this morning.

The Independent Police Conduct Authority will investigate the crash as well as a criminal investigation after the man came off his bike in Waverly about 8.20am.

The motorcyclist, who was using fake licence plates, had been evading police for about 20 minutes before failing to take a corner and crashing on Mangatangi Rd.

He was taken to Whanganui Hospital by St John ambulance with back injuries.

The man, who is in his 20s, is in a stable condition, a hospital spokesman said.

Whanganui sergeant Andy Reid said the rider was clocked by police doing about 130kmh near Waitotara when police began pursuit.

Police then called off the pursuit after losing sight of the bike and began a search for the man, Reid said.

The rider was then spotted in Waverley and a second chase began.

Police again lost sight of the motorcycle before coming across the crash site.

Thats the OLD procedure ... it has been updated to 30 seconds prior to the crash.

Before you judge a man, walk a mile in his shoes. After that, who cares? ...He's a mile away and you've got his shoes

I'd suggest that its not a fact of keeping up but rather keeping safe.. Was it in a school zone, was the rider taking unnecessary risks, was the rider placing other road users in harms way etc.

The great thing is that Comms have oversight and overall Command and Control, the rider, well he just has his own judgement and clearly riding a bike that had false plates I'd suggest was the first of many mistakes this knob made.
