I finally bought a parts washer!

Just a leedle one, but it will be good instead of getting kerosene from arsehole to breakfast all the time.

Now, the noob question: what do I use in it? It says on the warning sticker to NOT use anything explosive: so kero is out presumably.

Some of that Simple Green stuff they sell in the 4 l pail?

ideas: this is home workshop use by the way, not insdustrial.

Id rather use kero: I fucking hate the smell of kero but hate the smell of diesel more.

Water based is not much good unless you can heat it....like washing dishes in cold water. I have a submersible heater I used in my workshop partswasher - I use it these days as a dip tank. I did use water based in my small home parts washer, mainly because solvent evaporates so fast in summer. Now I've given up and use contaminated fuel from work (diesel/petrol)...a bit smelly but works well, and it's free. Not using solvent is a cover your arse policy - most partswash solvents are low flash point.

That simple green max degreaser is bloody good stuff mate

Easily the best stuff Ive used cost wise....Im sure there is better out there, but for sourcing (you can even find the normal stuff at the super market!), the price and how well it works!..A+++
I also love how it dosn't smell like shit as well ...and you can just add water to dilute to the preferred strenght (I use it in a 50/50 mix and its strong enough to take oil spills off the drive way)

here here, that simple green stuff is the best. where do you source large amounts? I can only get the 1 litre spray bottles of Simple Green MAX

There's some specials on at the mo for Simple Green at TradeZone stores. Buy a 4l and get a free 1l sprayer and it's 2 for the price of 1. Buy a 20l and get a free 4l.

Always used the Pacer stuff in the oldmans. Comes in a 10L container and lasts for ages.
