I prefer to keep my life and limbs, and my bike... in one piece. If that means pissing off the odd person, well.. tough shit.

In most places where we are doing 30-50 kmh, the speed limit is 50kmh, so at 40 kmh we're hardly holding anyone up.. everywhere else there is usually more than enough room for everyone.

Completely agree...If your NOT obstructing traffic and traveling at a good pace there usually IS more than enough room for all
...Im all for people being polite to each other on the road, its a death trap for all if we gave no quarter at all.

Personally...I think alot of accidents and cycle fatalities could be avoided if these where used

now that indicators are being allowed on cycles there would be a place for those with their inbuilt indicators.

I've seen a few "edited" versions of motorcycle vid's that feature riders being "put at risk" ... only when the full circumstances are revealed, is the full situation made clear. Not always in the favour of the one posting the vid.

Such paople may exist but i don't know any. I pay ACC levies on a bike, a moped, and soon, on a car as well.
So some dickhead sees me on my pushbike and assumes I'm not paying ACC levies. Bollocks!

Riding 2 abreast on a wider road means we are more visible, and it is less likely for someone to force us off the road.

As long as there is room to pass, we are entitled to ride side by side. If you dont like it, take a frickin train.

...your safe mate, 5150 wouldn't run anyone off the road...he's usually far to busy just trying to stay on it himself! (its even been reported that he's...actually a nice guy...mad as a rabid dog tho!)

Yep Wtk, it would be great if everyone was more polite on the road.

From what I've heard from road cyclists, they're quite divided about mirrors and other safety gear (interesting that). Mirror shake and too much reliance on them was an issue but "dorkyness" was one reason for not using them. Having said that, some helmets (including motorbike ones) are available with inbuilt mirrors and are becoming popular.

My problem with cyclists isnt the way they behave around cities, to me them running red lights and weaving through traffic is not really any different than us filtering, we can so we do.
My problem is the way they act on the other roads, they pick the most narrow, windiest roads with heaps of bind spots and go way slower than any other road users.
Sure these roads are the most scenic but they are also the most dangerous and hardest for others to get past.
