Shit, if only farmers and off roaders paid their share of ACC for farm bike and motorcross accidents, then suddenly us road motorcyclists wouldn't look so bad .....
I've spent my money on bikes, booze and babes. The rest I've wasted....

Do you seriously trust the Government to reduce current bike rego etc costs because new users are being taxed?

The police have the right to detain anyone for the purpose of establishing their identity. Maybe if a few cyclists were held up at the side of the road for half an hour or so while the popo checked that they were who they claimed to be then they would learn the frustration that the rest of us feel when we are being delayed by cyclists.
    Time to ride

They can take them back to the station too ... (my preference) ... but for minor "incidents" ... the cop seldom bothers to waste the time ... (unless it suits of course)

Let the air out of their tires, confiscate the hand pump and make the cunts walk. Problem fixed (sort off(ish))

I like the method I heard was employed by a DOC ranger, remove the chain. They can collect from the station when they have have photo ID, along with the ticket of course. Many will chose not to collect their chains but wheeling their bikes home and having to buy a new one will have served somewhat.

Sounds very dodgy from a legal standpoint.

DOC rangers issue tickets for running red lights and riding unsafely?

Lots of shit gets legally confiscated some of which you don't get back, like booze. Its affective, especially in this rumoured case as the cyclist was in the middle of a walking track where mountain bikes were banned.

I confiscated 2 mtb,s off a couple of youngish chaps when I was with DOC, they had been ripping up a new track we had spent a lot of time getting ready for opening. Boy did I get in some shit for that.It Was worth it though and I would do it again.

Unfortunatly, I don't, but they really couldn't get any more money off me if they try so let them go for it. The government always has you by the balls, thats all they're here for.

But what I propose is a Tax-per-person scheme rather than tax-per-vehicle, allowing you to have multiple vehicles and not pay (much) extra and that would make it easier to hold cyclists accountable for their actions without requiring every bike out there to be registered.

We would still get raped for riding Motorcycles (those who don't ride will always see them as extremely dangerous) but only once, and if you raise the tax level for people who crash often or drink drive or have 100 kids and down for volunteer work, good driving record, clean medical history etc, etc. Eventually those of us that don't cost society much as far as actual dollars would wind up paying less (yea I know I'm daydreaming)

you'd think someone would have found a way to avoid tax by now, how do you go about declaring a soverign nation lol

What this seems to boil down to is:
Tax and levy everyone, but reduce my amount.
Force identity cards on everyone and stop them at random, but not me.
The best way to forget all your troubles is to wear tight underpants.
