Germany’s top court has ruled that there is a legal right to forbid Hells Angel’s members from wearing their insignia in court during trials as this could intimidate those involved.
The Constitutional Court ruled wearing insignia during trials is an “unacceptable showing of force that might intimidate and threaten the parties to the proceeding".
The ruling was in response to a Hells Angel member who was convicted of complicity in extortion. The ‘Angel complained his trial was unfair since the presiding judge had banned him and his supporters from wearing their club jackets during the trial.
