More the rider than the bike I think. But at least as a 3 cylinder it'll be capable to run in the front half of the F3 field rather than the back third of the 600's.

How does the cost compare between sleeving it down as a four and turning it into a three?

Id rather be last in the 600s than first in F3 but I hear what you saying

I dont think it compares at all on HP or cost. I think it would cost about $500 to make it a 3 where is would be about 4k to make is a 450/4

Hmmm... Not really a fair comparison then... I wonder if there would be a market for a 450/4 these days? I think the old Honda Black bombers are getting too old, and heavy, to compete and the Suzuki GS450 would be better, but still too old? Of course they are twins, but then there's the Honda 400 Super Sport. How about boring out a 400 four or just competing with a 400 four. eg. VFR, etc.?

That's if you do most of the work yourself. For us normal types that really shouldn't fiddle with the insides of engines you can add another $3k for labour.

The 400's existed because of the laws in Japan so we got tons of cheap second hand ones. These days there's no reason to go for the smaller capacity when 600's and 650's are so well priced.

So when are you gonna join the revolution and go for a mini-cross-plane like 450?? They sound absolutely fabulous if you ask me

In the end I guess it is about cost.

Yep. I'd love to race in the 600's or Superbikes (preferably Superbikes cos I'll always be bigger than the majority of 600 riders) but only if someone else was paying for it.
