He's out of town, and all barred up about cars now.
Got the bits ordered for the kick start, so I should be buttoning up the motor next week
Have yet to find suitable switch gear and throttle blocks, but I have found some clip ons I may buy from eGay, just for lols.
That'll mean I'll need rearsets and new brake lever (need a custom kick and gear lever anyway, so why not eh?)
Bottom end on the beasty is all togethereverything greased, cleaned and loctite from arsehole to bearkfast
Got a new tank, will throw pics up when I've finished stripping it. It's an old GS250 or 450 one, rather cafe looking.
Has a fair bit of bog and life experience in itseeing as I never intended it to be a mint looking machine, I'll bare steel it and give it a reasonable, but well used patina
Yes, I said patina. Fuck you
Took the tank to bare steel, it's pretty fugly underneath, so it'll be getting two tone paint instead of a delicious polished tankforgot pre-strip (heh) pics. So have some bog pics

Have modded the seat and will make myself a nice seat cover soon
Will look at throwing a set of flat bars on it (notice I've put them the right way up)
I'll be adding an inch of foam on the top of the existing shit
I'll be keeping it comfy, so no clubman bars and race seats on this one...
Dogsnbikes has offered me an XR650 master, so I can use my Doherty throttle (similar to this, but polished)the original GN master gets in the way, and I want to use the throttle, coz it's cool
Bottom end is complete and the kick starter seems to work. Just need to wait for a gasket kit and I'll put the top end on
It's sort of not a GN250 anymore is it?
Love your work though!
What did you use to strip the tank to bare metal? I have frying issues with my tank because of the old acrylic paint when i sprayed the primer on.
Easy off oven cleaner on it for a few hours, washed it off and then a bit of scotchbrite.
Only really works on shit paint and anodising though. Otherwise, you can get paint stripper from a panel beating supplies place on Tremaine, I think they're near where mag and turbo were.
I'm almost tempted to let one of my sets of ZXR forks slide on to it. But RWU forks look period.
I think older GS zuks ran similar forks, but without the gay leading axle
Not really a priority currently, but a nicer set of forks withought eh gay axle will make it look nicer. And gaitors...
