Haven't grabbed a flywheel puller yet, been busy (spent all my Geoff/ZX6 money on one of my bro's bachelor party too, that didn't help)
But.
I've hoisted the motor back in to see if I can raise it much, and boom, chain slips straight on to the sprocket. Original rear lower mounts will be removed and new ones welded in.
Thinking about welding a cross beam on the frame then running the top rear mount there.
So, new front and top mounts will be easy peasy to whip up, rear lowers will be a walk in the park, just need to figure the tidiest way to do the top rear.
And I decided it's time to wire it up
The loom fell out, next to my baccy pouch of course.
I'm thinking of ditching the controls on the bars too, run a plate on the bar clamps with some toggle switchy things. Maybe? It'd get rid of the gay as fuck wires coming from the bars anyway...
I was wondering how you were getting on with your project...
You could almost wire up some switches etc on a panel with your idiot lights, almost kinda like a dash board... Idk, just a random idea...

That's kind of what I was meaning, I would like to find some toggle switches with LEDs on the tips, I reckon they'd look neat.
I have that idea and also a dash thing that still uses the current set up
Here's some half magpie pics.
That's the hoary front mount I made with the original engine position, I think I'll get them made out of 6 or 8mm plate
You can see the original bar behind/brace the motor. Basically, pop that out and weld in something nice and thick (giggity) and weld the mounts to that, easy!
But, it's all in there, a few mm clearance will be between the head and front of the frame, a few mm between the valve cover and tank and a few between the RHS cover and the swing arm. Nothing's going to go crunch and the sprocket should be in alignment when it's all nipped up too, but I can just space the rear out a bit if need be
Might even take it to the local engineers to do the rear mounts, I can borrow a mig, but my welding isn't pretty enough
Winning so far!
Looks pretty good dude! I'm liking the idea of toggle switches too, will that include the indicators though?

Chur I'll send you a message on bookface about my current idea for the rear mount
I'm not entirely sure if it should include the indicators, I was thinking of perhaps a smaller swith block for them on the LHS with a horn button, and just have the high/low and kill on the dash-thingymabob.
Zorst is going to be easy too, have got the headers dummied up, will grab some more blades for the saws that hack and chop some pipe up.
Will be scrambler, on the LHS
It's looking pretty awesome mate!!!

Thanks
Will get pics of where the headers are now, but it's nothing cool. Pics are fun though
Got the carb in, it's either leave it on the motor or put it on with the rubber on it, too tight to do it the normal way...
It weighs just under 130kg as it is, with 12L of petrol.
That's without zorst (that's under 3kg)
Without battery, it's pretty light and it'll have an A123 cell pack eventually
Minus 2.3L of oil and an oil cooler
I'm going to do my best to keep it under 140kg full wet.
I think that's fucking light for a steel framed 600cc bike...
Awesome! It is going to be one sexy GN! Probably almost unrecognisable once your finished with it

Top and front mount dimensions sorted after some moar playing around.
Like my excellent drawing? Not perfect, the kids have fucked off with my compass somewhere so I haven't got anything to scribe an arc with and I'm not 'puter savvy enough to make one on paint
CDI/Coil ready to be bolted on and will plug in, just have to run a 12v source to the CDI
Haven't got a pic of the start of the headers yet, derp.
Smacked the blanking plug out of the kick start hole and pulled the old seal, might as well chuck a tasty new one in.
These run a decomp cable to each side of the head, one manually operated and one run off the kick start. I'm not going to run one off the kick start, might not even run one at all, will see how hard it is for me to start
Hopefully flywheel puller next week and a POR15 kit for the ZX6 tank
