Ride it over to upper hutt, then I can hear this phantom noise.

Check the butterfly on the carb for play. The slide too.

    Even I don't do that!
Probably because Geoff has no airbox

Slide's okay, will check the butterfly, but I'm certain that's sweet (rebuilt carb)
I could always re-assemble my spare carb and chuck it on just to be triple sure

ha, ask around to see how well that plan is likely to work out!

have you considered that its just a GN at the rattles are because GN's arent made to exacting standards? . . .

and when you gonna have that fuckin 600 finished!?

It'd work fine, it's not insured and my mates aren't cunts

I very much doubt the rattle is because of lower than normal standards, I've done many a GN's clearances and got rid of rattles just like this, only exception being one with a rooted cam chain

The 600? Jebus, I'll never be finished with that Every time I go near it I see a detail I want to improve, then go completely overboard on said details.
I still cannot decide what to do with the bottom of the forks, the silver is boring and black may be a bit much, polished would look homo.

youd not be the first person to think you were clever, only to be deceived by his own stupidity! Karma - maybe its real after all.

well how many times you tried the clearances now? it either aint the clearances, or your you're not a very good mechanic . . .

ha, yes that is a problem I can sympathise with. Maybe summer will encourage more riding less tinkering

I've tried clearances a few times, but I have had similar issues with wide feeler gauges hanging up on the edges of retainers and giving a false reading/clearance before, also with straight gauges being bent past valve inspection covers/head surfaces giving false clearances, quite annoying.

I am beginning to doubt my mechanical abilities now bit of a bummer

Not too fussed about getting the 600 finished in a hurry, I am fussed on making it perfect though.
But every time a detail changes, another doesn't match, 'tis a violent circle.

Could also be me just being far too fucking pedantic as always.
I'm trying to think of the last single with tappt adjustment I heard that was actually quiet up top
I'll just ride the cunt, if it explodes I'll swear at it and build a new engine, not like it's expensive...

    New game people:
How long 'till I explode/flip it in anger?
Or pull it down to repaint because there's dirt on the swing arm again

what kind of feeler gauges are you using? I assume you have ordered some new ones that will allow better access? maybe you need to walk away from it and come back in a week - youll probably find its something stupidly obvious you've overlooked, the old cant see th woods for the trees syndrome.

yes, the jigsaw puzzle of modding. I have boxes full of shit I bought then removed cos it didnt work with the next mod - probably a bit of poor planning on my part, but sometimes you need a part ON the bike before you can visualize the next step.

Did you paint it again yet? you were going purple or something next werent you?

They were you a-typical straight fuckers, have got a set of bent and tapered puppies coming, needed an excuse to get them for yonks, the straight ones have served me well though, countless cars/bikes, lines of coke...maybe not the coke
I'm leaving it be for a bit, got a few things to do on the 600 and some other peoples toys to sort out anyway

I have fucking heaps of parts I got and didn't want, I have 5 different temp gauges in one drawer just for the 600

It hasn't been painted again...yet I'm being me about it, can't make up my mind.
I'm thinking satin black/white race number box thingies on the tail, or flat silver.
Got a few small updates to get pics of tomorrow on it anyway, will post them up
