    Hahahahaha You caught me!
Speaking of magpies, one does often walk up to the door of the garage and watch me scratch my head/work. I named him Barry.

Valves sound like they should now, quiet tap.
But, the giant tapping noise persists.
Whipped the head back off to see if anything has been toughing, nope, clean and happy.
Piston's not hitting the head, or gasket...or valves.
If you tap teh valves casually with a hammer (you know, as ya do) you can hear them tick against the seat, so I'm just leaving it down to valve noise and fuck the stupid thing. Got an appointment with the shrink in the morrow 25km away, so if it explodes I have a legitmate excuse to burn it, then build it with a DR350 motor

Going to split the cases and order new bearings
Have to grind the gear lever off as it's welded on so I'll be needing a new one of them and I'll throw new bearings everywhere

Will upload pics if I remember to stop for five minutes

I'm thinking of unsubscribing from this thread. It's getting a bit ground hog day. Doug puts it together, then he rips it to bits.

That would work...except I found my problem and why the noises all of a sudden got worse.

A crank bearing fell apart and the piston punched a valve
Fuck yeah, finally something decent worth worrying about.

So I suppose I'll rebuild it, blow it up and have to PM Drew all the updates if he unsubscribes

I dislike this bike, yet I love it.
    It's a shame nobody seems to have DR350 cranks...or LT500 cranks

Re power the bloody thing with something decent will ya. Isn't there a modern 450 Suzuki enduro? Charging system for your lights, and wheel popping fun through fourth fuckin gear baby!

I'm torn between keeping the 300 motor or buying something that's actually decent and shoving it in. I'd be more than happy with a DR350 engine, eneough power to make the frame give up and a wee bit of torque (compared to the 250 lol)
But, I started this as a build on a budget and I think I still need to see a 30hp GN motor
Even if it costs me valves, pistons, bearings, rings and clutches

    What a fuckin' muppet

Just inspected the gear sets etc, all are happy (not like 22hp was going to break anything) had a few smokes and checked everything else over.
Will re-bearing it, 300 kit and call it a day. I'll get another motor if I'm going to build a proper thing out of it

It's time to play with the 600 instead
