    The *****wit cyclist thread

Was a lovely day yesterday so me and the missus decided to go for a ride around lake Wairarapa via featherston to the Ferry for lunch .
Having filled back up at featherston we proceded towards the lake heading down the long straight and seeing in the distance to cyclists riding single file , we keep heading down the road (2up by the way ) and see a red car coming the otherway . The cyclists riding single file meant heaps of room so i kept going , but up to about 50m away 1 of them swerved out in front of me almost to the centre line of the road as the car was about to pass in the opposite direction .
On with all brakes as i lock it all up coming within a foot of the cyclist . Now my bike has a aftermarket triumph exhaust and people can hear me coming from about a mile away .
From what i saw he did this deliberate .
I almost stopped to give him an ear full , my missus thought about kicking over his bike as we went past .
But if i would of i could only imagine the response ".... fucken bikers etc etc .." So much for sharing the road .

He got the 1 fingered salute as we went past ..

Am i alone on this of have other bikers had some bad experiences with cyclists ..
    Just going my own way

I hate it when the cunts ride side by side, that should be made illegal as they're not only endangering themselves, but other road users as well.

    Cool... Another Cyclist Thread!

    OP,
Yup, total muppet on a bike (The cyclist that is).

I am one of many motorcyclists who actually ride an engineless bike as well.
When out in a bunch ride the TEC is supposed to be keeping an ear out for vehicles behind, and then pass that information up the bunch.
Then the bunch should be at least 2 abreast (as the law requires), or single file if the road is too narrow to be two abreast safely (and lets face it, most roads cyclists and motorcyclist love are too narrow for two abreast).

There is a chance that even with your loud pipes the bunch might not have heard you were exactly where you were. He may have been pulling out to take the lead, or just given up the lead as he was stuffed (most likely). If stuffed, then he might have had a brain fart.

I would have slowed to 30 to 40k (Their speed), gave them a reminder that they need to be more careful, and then rode off. After all, there is enough room in most lanes doe a 44 tonne truck. two cycles and a motorcycle should be able to fit without too much drama, or none of the parties should be riding.

When they get in a bunch they get all self important and forget their own safety. Had several issues with them over the Paekakariki Hill on Sunday. Friday and Saturday the loners had not been a problem but come Sunday they must have decided the road belonged to them. The loners would weave all over the lane and the bunches would ride two or three abreast. Perhaps a few tickets for impeding traffic might make them realise their right to the road also comes with responsibilities.
I had one that worried me as I pulled back in, he had decided to chase on a downhill and so had left himself without much room but I didn't have enough visibility to stay out any longer. I had allowed enough space to over take him at the speed he was going when I past him. But that is another rule I guess they get to ignore.

Cyclists are hated more than motorcyclists, theyre slow, take up the road, and the worst part is they arent recognized as a vehicle. Therefore no acc costs go up for them, or any other expenses. They are basically ignored by everyone except for the driver stuck behind them.

All were told is to look out for them, like theyre pedestrians.

I was fairly sure that they had to be in single file at all times?

its what I've been yelling at them, as i pass, for years now... oops

They prefer it if u lightly tap their bottoms as u go past. just a light tap, not assault..

Last week while taking the missus to work at about 5:30am (still dark), there were two loosers on their push bikes side by side. No hi-viz gear, no lights what so ever, no helmets (beanies), black jerseys and jeans. Both going through a red light. Well fuck me if I didn't pull over and gave them an earfull. They were both surprised as if they didn't know what they done wrong. If that is how these people choose to ride then perhaps the cyclists should be banned from roads or at least pay their fair share of road user charges.
I've spent my money on bikes, booze and babes. The rest I've wasted....

aren't we supposed to give them like 1.5 meters room when we pass? when they ride 2 abreast, usually with a decent distance between themselves I havent found much room to pass on my bike without feeling like a dick for being too close..

    utter bollocks.

BECAUSE they are riding side by side, you are not forcing them (us) off the road by trying to squeeze past when you shouldnt.

I ride both cycles and bikes, and have done for 30 years. Cyclists have EVERY right to be side by side and take up as much of the lane as they deem necessary to not be killed by morons who have no idea what they are doing on the road. Just the same as you, as a motorcyclist have every right to ride in any part of your lane and NOT expect a car to be occupying it at the same time you are.

Hell.. if you cant wait a few seconds till you can pass safely.. GET OFF THE FREAKIN ROAD.

Honestly.. it drives me nuts. People trying to tell me how to ride, where to ride, and so on.. when you learn to not endange my life, I'll get out of your way. I had some yobbo yelling at me yesterday because my mate and I were riding side by side. The road was wide enough for cars to pass and still give us 1.5m (and they were)... AND HE WAS GOING THE OTHER WAY! If he had of stopped I would have inserted my bike pump into his rectum.

Anyway.. unless you are out there riding you dont see what we see, you dont know what we know, you dont know what the cyclist considers an acceptable risk, etc. The same things that apply to motorcycling apply to cycling. There are some idiots, and some times stuff happens that you dont expect that other people only see the tail end of and think you're being an idiot.

    +1

Oh and iYRe you should really check the road rules and not just talk to your lycra glad buddies. A quote from NZTA for you to consider
they must not ride more than two abreast and they must ride single file if passing another vehicle (including another cycle), or if riding two abreast would disrupt traffic
So get out the frigging way. You only have the same rights as other road users, not more. If a motorcyclist is impeding traffic they are expected to pull to the left and let the traffic pass as well, the difference being they usually do it is only the Lycra glad morons that think they have the right to imped everyone else.

Like all other road users if you cant do the speed limit get out of the fucken way.
What really pisses me off is when cyclists arrogantly ride down the road two abreast at 20ks/h with absolutely no intention of changing to single file or pulling over to allow you to pass.
If you wouldnt do it in a car dont do it on a pushbike.
