I don't think the signs say Autobahn, I think they're just the usual rest area/food etc signs.

    Here's a map.

It's the bit marked "Motodrome Service Area".

Well we had a blast to Whangamata via Kopu / Whangamata / Waihi / AK.
What an awesome day huh !

hope you enjoyed it as much as i did

I had a great day, thanks for organising it motoracer

Ridge road with all the fog was neat, there were some good views up there. It was cool looking in my rear view mirrors and seeing the landscape behind me disappearing in the fog, must've only been about 50m visibility in some places.

I mostly took it fairly easy, particularly on the way back. But had some fun trying to keep up with Aff-man on the way down for a bit

SlashWylde, that new bike looks pretty nice for a cruiser

MR: enjoyed the ride. Great job. I turned around right before Waingaro Springs and headed back to akl with good pace lead by Santa Claus.

Who was the orange GSXR again? Sorry I forgot. But enjoyed the bit with you and Bruce until my visor was full of water (yes in the inside) so I couldn't see the road and had to stop.

Draco sez cheers MR for setting up the ride, and same goes for me.

    Cool

It was great to see some of the old faces again... Draco... ok she aint old but ya know what I mean...hehehe. Draco you need to get out there on your bike a lot more..
Slashwylde - love the bike..... You ride her well...
    Nak1d - nice bike......

Good to see a few new faces.

Wasn't to pleasant riding in that fog.... buggar all visability...slowed right down at a snail's pace...

Now I had a wee oops on the boulder section of the road - The washout section. As I was walking the bike throu it, the back wheel went over a rock on the wrong angle... and I started to feel the bike go out from under me... and start to lean over... got it back upright and continued on.

Hey A big thanks to Firefight, Motoracer, Aff-man and Zapf waiting at the turnoff's and corners for the likes of me coming up the rear.

Slashwylde, Nak1d and I were the tail enders today...
Slashwylde and Nak1d were both on brand new bikes and getting the feel of them... so it was nice to have company.

After leaving the loaded Hog, Gremlin, Nak1d and I headed back up SH1.
A good ride back. One dude in his car objected to me and Gremlin passing him and blocked off Nak1d from passing. But he did get past. hehehe.

We did loose two riders on the motorway, so I dont know where they ended up, but I do hope that they had a great ride. They missed the turnoff when we were on the motorway...

    todays ride

hey Sudeep, thanks for setting up the ride, had not intended to come, but a last min change of plans, freed up my morning, after a bit of mucking around we got in to it, saw some good riders today, Nice to see KB boss and all round good guy "Spankme" out today.and a few new faces.

Marmoot and I only rode as far as Wainargo, by this time I was very late for my appointment, so a very good pace back saw us both a bit low on fuel, grabbed some gas at Glen Murray and home, thanks for keeping me co Marmoot, hope we can fit in a ride next week(should have my new bike by then)..

The only reason I only ride in the Iron man Class is I have no friends left to enter the two man events,
    my own fault really.

    Great Ride

Thanks MR for organising the ride. It was great to meet some new peeps, Trev, send me that photo when you can, I will try and get some prices for the camera next week. I had a blast, as Crashe said taking it easy on the new bike, didn't want to bin it on my 1st big ride with it . I can now say I have done 22. Some challenging corners, and hazards, but some nice open parts, and very picturesque. I went back via SH1 as I had to get back quickly, not nearly as much fun though as 22, although still had good company. I had to laugh when a car almost jumped in to the curb when crashe past it, I mean its nice when they move over but that was friggin ridiculous.

The bike went well, and I am now in with V-Twins.

Slashwylde, nice ride , Gremlin, keep up the good work, practice makes perfect, you and crashe are good to with . Nice meeting you Trev, and Steve. I look forward to the next ride.

CAN sorry that you guys missed the turnoff, was hoping to see you both on the ride, NVM, maybe next time.

Here are some piccies, I took more but they didn't turn out as well as I had hoped.

nice to see u all new and familar faces

I got to learnt how to ride my 400 properly today... I was riding it like a twin before... like keeping it under 6~7k rpm and then just "trying" to torque it... no wonder progress was a bit slow. silly me

was good to see u out Draco... specially summer coming up..

cheers to MR for setting up the ride... and firefight... suppose u can talk to the right people in sorting out the gravel bits?

yeah, that would be MR, flat on the tank at 120 and he passes (with the beeeaaauuutiful rumble of a twin) like a bat outa hell. Then Death passes me likewise, 'cept he's on one wheel... Everytime I heard those twins I just about creamed myself... I think I have fallen in love... just waiting till it would be legal...

Cheers to all the guys who stopped and helped me when I decided to meet SH22 up close for the first time . I think it was a combination of an early apex and negative camber... and I believe I had just about stopped before the bike decided it wanted to have a lie down.

But overall, an excellent ride, many thanks goes to MR and guiders .

Nak1d - sorry mate I don't think it is you.
I'm sure this is one of the first 2 bikes which caught me out before I got down to the corner. All the others aren't in the camera ????? which fair pisses me off as I froze my bollocks off waiting up there.
Nak1d I will check out some cameras today - shutter speeds etc. & get back to you.
Sudeep - a great day that I really needed. A well organised trip & some neat back roads on the way back. Also it was neat to put some faces to names plus those twins have me thinking for next years bike.
