    Civil engineering feeler

My future son-in-law is currently looking at a move to NZ from Belgium, and as well as bringing my daughter home he will be requiring work.
He describes himself as a 'generalist' and says...
What appeals to me in my current work, is the coming together of client and subcontractor relations, strategic contract management with the client and subcontractors, financial and legal management and the interconnectedness and complexity of these different project dimensions. The same applies for my previous project management position in Amsterdam which was in a public sector. This is where I see my added value in a project or company as a generalist who integrates different viewpoints and strategically acts on these.
If anyone has some knowledge of the general industry, and more specifically, positions available - location not an issue at this stage - Thijs would appreciate it. I will make sure he gets them
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

The quick answer is that he will not struggle to find work at all. Obviously Chch is a hotspot right now, however engineering services do not have to be located where the projects are necessarily and this is driving demand around the country. The market is very short of good civil engineers with a reasonable amount of experience.
Nail your colours to the mast that all may look upon them and know who you are.
It takes a big man to cry...and an even bigger man to laugh at that man.

The IPENZ JobHunt website and Seek seem to be the main places for advertising engineering jobs.

Chur chur would be the place to come if you are an engineer for the next few years at least.

Get him in touch with me - I know someone in Holmes Consulting, they're looking for good civil engineers. I can forward your son-in-law's CV on to them.

I'm pretty sure they only employ cheeky darkies.
